Re: serious discussion about casual racism in europe

So anyone who has found a joke funny is intelligent?

I guess you pick a criteria by which you may qualify I guess.

Re: serious discussion about casual racism in europe

political correctness at its worse imo (only read the last few posts, mind) slippery slope when you start deciding there are things no one is allowed to joke about one can and should be authorized to joke about anything, just know your audience imo So racist jokes are alright if you reckon your aud...

Re: What are you reading?

same! Dennet is great, and im very interested in that subject I have the audiobook of Intuition Pumps and it's good, I find him hard work though I've started and put down Consciousness Explained a couple of times, I think he speaks well and his shorter stuff is good but his books aren't for the fei...

Re: E Cigarettes / Vaping

Yeah my missus would laugh when I'd be loading the launch box with a spliff in my hands after ordering the box that would make me give up tobacco completely. I don't smoke cigs at all now though so that's still preferable to where it was. I think the ritual plays a part, the early e cigs sucked beca...

Re: E Cigarettes / Vaping

The body high thing will be a problem I think it's a function of the CBD and THC vaping at diff temps. I use the Magic Flight Launch Box a mate uses the Iolite, both are alright but neither has made me stop the last 2/3 rollies per day

Re: Atheism

-q- that is a relevant point actually its such a tough one though, because I for one would hate to start an argument with someone purely because they believe in God. but its hard to distinctly distinguish between religion and God when the two are associated so heavily with each other, so yes i supp...

Re: Atheism

Both theists and atheists would agree that the most important thing to be discussed is how to intelligently aid people's morality. In my opinion, this single point is all that really matters, not the whodunit bit (as in whether, atgeists would have more intelligent suggestions or not) While I agree...

Re: Atheism

They'd also be theist because they withheld assent from B, right? In their own rights though, aren't atheism and theism claims about what can be known? Can one claim that god exists without claiming to be capable of knowing so? A theist must assent to A.If you claim that god exists without claiming...

Re: Atheism

But wouldn't someone who withholds assent be agnostic? I would have thought that those statements are what distinguishes theism from atheism. So would it be in the nature of someone who identifies as atheist to withold assent from either claim? Can you withhold assent without implying that the oppo...

Re: Atheism

I think of religion as a set which contains polytheism, monotheism, and atheism (no reason anti-theism can't be in here too). There are a number of reasons I think theists calling atheism a religion are making a mistake. Firstly we wouldn't call theism a religion, consider that monotheism is genera...

Re: Atheism

You can't claim both p and ~p but there is nothing preventing an atheist from withholding assent from both propositions and remaining consistent. Okay, how does that work? Examples? Consider the one I just posted. A) There is a god B) There is no god These are different claims, You can assent to a ...

Re: Atheism

See my previous reply, atheism doesn't claim to have discovered anything, it rejects anothers claim to discovery.. which is entirely different and you keep treating it exactly the same which is where the confusion is. I am closer to your side in this discussion but I think you are in danger of talk...

yeah you're probably right it was the smack You know how a conversation is more about the exchange of information or ideas or opinions than ticking a box or whatever, right? Re: The SNH Football thread

So I'm a Liverpool fan which in the hypocritical traditions of football support means I can say it but I must disagree with you if you say it.

I think that's how it works, in any case possibly though it would have been bigger had Allardyce not thrown 20m at us for him.
