Re: Physics anyone?
Been reading this blog recently - One Universe At A Time by Brian Koberlein ( https://briankoberlein.com/ ). The articles are pretty short but they're also pretty good as primers for cosmology. One from last week was on light echoes ( https://briankoberlein.com/2014/10/02/echoes-light/ ), and there'...

Re: Tokyo Dub roll call
System was too distorted for us to stay there long. All the other stages sounded great though. A good time was had. Burritos were tasty. Depended on where you stood and who was playing imo, the quality of the sound varied throughout the day for the System stage. It sounded shite at the end when Jok...

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/c/c7/Practiceeffect.jpg/200px-Practiceeffect.jpg This one's a pretty interesting take on the whole modern-day-scientist-finds-himself-transported-to-a-magical-realm genre. In this case, it's a world where "practicing" things makes them better...

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/57/TheSirensofTitan%281959%29.jpg Good read but quite a difficult one to describe. It basically sets out to show the pointlessness of it al, especially God-fearing religions. There are quite a few brilliant twists. Interestingly, there's a paragraph in the...

Good read, as would be expected from John Wyndham. Pre-dates X-Men-style mutants, excellent commentary on religious/societal intolerance to the different.

Probably wouldn't be any worse than those people living in skybridge flats between towers.
I wouldn't pick limestone/sedimentary rock cliffs to hang a house off of though.

This is pretty neat, a remapping of superclusters based on galactic movements. Turns out that the Local Group of superclusters that the MIlky Way is in is actually just part of a much more extensive supercluster moving towards the Great Attractor. http://phys.org/news/2014-09-laniakea-newly-galactic...

Re: Physics anyone?
The death knell of the multiverse theory? Though galaxies look larger than atoms and elephants appear to outweigh ants, some physicists have begun to suspect that size differences are illusory. Perhaps the fundamental description of the universe does not include the concepts of “mass” and “length,”...

Psychoshop by Alfred Bester and Roger Zelazny. Completely bonkers sci fi. Features a time travelling singularity, a shop built around it that lets people trade traits/psyches/bodyparts/etc, animals transformed into intelligent humanoids and a lot of what-the-fuck-is-going-on. Written by 2 sci-fi gre...
