Well if any effect is applied to the final mixdown it should be definately done offline. No way I'm going to put anything on the master channel of my tracks. Only a very soft limiter and that in extreme testing purposes only. Interesting read tho, I might have even learned something from this. Have ...

. . . so when did not normalizing come into vouge ? I'm not sure I follow why not ? if I've got a 24 bit file that has peaks, say around -12 db then I shouldnt normalize before converting to 16 ? I was thinking about this too. Though why not 16 if the maximum peak value is low.. Applied with very l...

bze - Cheers for that man, it's kinda hard to get the substance of the tracks in the mix when each one has to be less than a minute long including the mix of the tunes. Perhaps, the mi simply needs to be longer to suit my tunes? But that does kinda defeat the point! Anything you would suggest? As I...

The tunes didn't or the mix didn't? Need words on both, so all criticism appreicated :d Cheers man The mixing was clever but it didn't give enough 'space' to the tracks. Works well as a blend of different atmospheres though. Tracks themselves did seem to lack some intensity, I think there should be...

Spirituality = high on weed?

..

Of course there's soul and spirituality in every piece of art. If the artist puts himself seriously into the process of creating art, the thoughts and feelings of the artist will reflect from his creation.

I don't see an exception here.

Re: The dubstep tips super thread

If reverb or delay is applied to the bass, the bass should be routed to a send or a separate channel. If reverb or delay is applied to the original bass sound, the result is something horrible. I prefer to cut everything but the highest part of the frequency spectrum, it's too easy to mess up the wh...

As it has been said many times before, dubstep is about progression and fresh ideas, especially with the drums. Experiment!

Start with standard 2step-garage-breakbeat-ish drums, then start shiftin' and erasing the notes when you have the some of the basic structural elements laid down.

i wanted a budget mixer when i got back into it and got myself a behringer vxm-300 (?). i'm sure it's not up to par with a pioneer or a vestax but behringer seems to make surprisingly good mixers (dj or desk). they cost far less than others of comparable quality, and sound/work better than cheap on...

Found an interesting modular sequencer recently, been playing around with it in work.. Check it out, pretty decent. A bit like Buzz but it doesn't look n feel like Impulse Tracker in a bad way.
