How/why did you get into producing?

It was a warm summers evening, a light breeze filled the air. I was in my room, sipping on lemonade. It was cold and refreshing. I had music playing, skrillex. After googling how to make dubstep, I declared myself a producer and pirated £10,000 worth of software and loops such as vengeance essential...

Some places around manchester that play dubstep?

Just started going out around manchester but (obviously) everything is shitty EDM. Does anyone know a place which exclusively plays dubstep/similar genres (not "bro"step)?

Re: How many times could you layer something and what with?

Pretty much everything. The main things i struggle with are vocals, pianos and pluck basses (like a deep house bass) etc.

How many times could you layer something and what with?

Lately I've been having alot of sounds in my mix not quite as fat as i had wanted. Usually all that it's been layered with is a bit of reverb, sometimes sidechained so it doesn't get in the way and that doesn't really seem to do it, it does make it abit wider and airy but not really "fat"....

Archaic - In Pictures (Lounge/2-step)

https://soundcloud.com/archaic2/in-pictures-1

think I may have gone overboard on the highs as it all sounds abit piercing in that area.. but not as bad as i was expecting seen as i mastered it myself

It's one of these, so It's better than your standard "straight" one which just gets mushed in your pocket

Re: Getting used to studio monitors?

Yeah, I've read abit about that. There's not much I can do though because there's not much room so my speakers are right up against the wall, they're pretty much 60 degrees but my chairs not adjustable so I don't exactly like up. I'm gonna get some stands very soon though. How long did it take you t...

Re: Getting used to studio monitors?

Thanks for the clarification; I didn't A/B any of it because I was simply trying to remaster an older song (which was made on the earphones) but I ended up making it sound worse somehow. I think I'll just start again and with each process i make to an individual element of the track, I'll reference ...

Getting used to studio monitors?

1. Is this a thing? 2. Everything I've made up to now has been on a pair of £50 in-ear headphones (approx for 2 or so years). However, now i have some rokit G3's (In November) and everything I've made on them sounds absolutely shit on the headphones I've used prior and I don't get it because the mix...

Re: My first EP (teaser)

^ sexism, tut tut ;-) Aw man, the top one's just as generic brostep. Ditch it, do something original. I mean, for what it is, it sounds good but you're not gunna get anywhere by doing something everyone else has already done. However, if you have fun doing it then keep it up. 2nd track has much more...

Why do IEM's break like this:

Basically, when the wire at the bottom of the cable (ontop of the L connector) is moved, one of the earphones stops working, but if it's nudged back its fine. Literally happens to every pair of earphones I've owned.

Lambeth's quite old though, it's here and was uploaded 5 years ago:

maybe if nothing's brought out it would be safe to assume he's working on something bigger than an EP

I wanna become a world famous DJ, preforming alongside the greats such as Tiesto, Martin Garrix and Calvin Harris.

If not then I'll happily spend another 30 years down in my mums basement.
