all i'd heard before i wrote brood were traditional irish jigs at the féile :P haha. nah i do really like lots of swinging garage stuff, some of it has more bounce than a lot of dubstep i hear which is very "straight" quantised business.

might not the different tempo and feel allow for something quite different to come out of using caustic noise in dubstep though? vex'd are the obvious example. there's an angular, industrial quality to a lot of the rythmns that is complimented well by harsh sounds in my opinion. i dislike a lot of t...

i love spectral stuff, it sounds fuckin nuts. one of my mates has been recreating real instruments' spectra lately with the aid of a sonogram and additive synthesis, like FFT with a massive number of bands. he gets really close sometimes.
