A friend of mine told me to learn Csound, but it looks long haha!
so i decided to get max/msp instead and put my effort into that, Pd is great thou, i used it for about a year. The jump from Pd to max was easy aswell as there pretty similar in most ways.

try recreating a snare through synthesis, you'll learn how snares work and be able to apply what you have learnt to your sample choice.

i built my own granular synthesizer in Max/Msp, can have the grain size, pitch, panning and position in the sample all changed randomly within certian ranges that i set. So after each grain it changes, and then i got 16 streams of grains all layered up at once, 16 different versions of a grain at an...

for amazing pads, granular synthesis is the one in my eyes, after some sound design in another synth to get a nice base sound.
the great thing about granular synthesis is that you can with the right synth process each of those little grains individually creating some serious unique textures.

old thread, but time for a bump...
i got max/msp yesterday and i must say its lovely, after using Pure data for about a year or so max seems alot easier to use proberly becuase of the lovely GUI.
