?How to find the original song from a dub
been listening to some king tubby recently and I see in the comments on some youtube videos people saying what song the dub is made from. how would I go about finding this information otherwise? Google searches don't always work and whosampled.com is helpful but limited.

Re: OfficeSteppers '13 (aka the offtopic but still prod. thr
I recently realized something. In order to get an acapella of a tune, cant you just get an instrumental, layer it on top of the normal vocal version, then inverse the instrumental? Gonna try it when I get home today, will it work? Phase inversion has been discussed on here a number of times. In the...

Re: $350 for some hardware that just does kick drums?
^good to see? Hey man I don't have that kind of money to throw on hardware just for one instrument. I guess it might be kinda cool for morphing a kick drum during a repetitive/minimal(?) set. I guess you couldn't really imitate that with samples because crossfading wouldn't bridge that gap in sound ...

Re: Good videos of phase issues?
Interesting thing to do with phasing: Take a saw and a ramp (inverted saw) and send them through the same channel at the same volume, then change the phase of the ramp, instant PWM :D Neat. Without adjusting the phase, every time I played my pattern with 2 instances p8, it would cancel differently ...

Re: Does anyone else have similar problems with vocals?
i have a question. what if yuu have a vocal loop and you don't know the bpm and can't find it? or what if it doesn't really have a bpm if its not in time? whats the best method? chop it and loop it in time? also, im new to logic x so havent used flex pitch much, is it easy enough to change the voca...

Re: Does anyone else have similar problems with vocals?
b) Is there anyway I could get better at this? Just learn the major scale intervals. As someone said before, find the notes on an instrument you know how to play to figure out the notes and then find which major scale the vocal fits into. If you don't want to spend time learning a lot of music theo...

Re: Tuning drums
I suppose anywhere where you'd combine the kick and bass like an 808 kick or maybe a kick/fade in bass like sidechained style/electro/happy hardcore/a certain sylenth preset I'm thinking of you could make them tuned to each other quite easily and it might sound best that way. Do any of you just use ...

Re: Tuning drums
i tune my drum hits slightly, but not necessarily to the key of the track. just make sure everything sits well together. Ya I think the best drum sounds sound good with each other but don't really need to be related to the melodic instruments. Like a lot of kicks and snares are at least an octave a...

Re: Don't just backup your projects.
I just started a dropbox account the other day, so I could use that, mediafire and gmail to back up a good chunk of stuff, but then I have to prioritize what I want to back up... T_T Anybody use an application to back up files? I might start using one with an external hard drive since I'm liking how...

Why yes it does. I couldn't find the scene on youtube(it even auto completes the search for it but yields nothing) but they're playing at an air force base and his guitar picks up the radio too. and everybody thought they were 'spinal tarp' XD
