yea I reckon your probably spot on with the mic input not seperating from the rest of the mixer even with the faders down, looks like im going to have to save up for a card with jack & phono inputs, which is a bugger because I just had to rebuy the 2496 because my last one got fried

Im thinking it may be to do with my setup somehow but I cant figure out what it is. Ive got a 2496 maudio card, the output is going to the middle channel on my mixer and theres a record out from my mixer going into the input of the souncard, im recording in through one of the mic sockets on the mixe...

this is probably really obvious but how can I record say some percussion into abelton without recording the track thats playing in the background? obviously I turn the sound on the mixer off and listen to it on my headphones but it still seems to record the track im playing over, I get the same prob...
