Re: Do you think that using loops/presets/sample packs is 'l
Most of the time for me, using presets and loops without any tweaking results in mixes that sound out of place. Usually because the sonic imprint of the loop/preset wasn't made to fit into the context of your tune, it sounds a bit off. Always considered Front Line Assembly a good example of how a mi...

Re: Distorting 808's properly
This is how I do it. Load fxpansion tremor and make an 808 sounding kick drum. Cross reference it with an instance of operator playing the root note I want to tune it to. make 2 copies of the 808. drive the 2nd copy with saturation and distortion. band pass it with eq or a filter. bounce both 808 sa...

Re: Popping sound on sub bass
If the sine stops or starts on a point of the sine's axis that is not zero crossing, you will hear a pop. I prefer it for the attack bit, as you can't really replicate that pop sound using eq. Sounds especially good on 808 style kicks. The post above mine illustrates how to do it for the attack.

Sony mdr 7506 are the only cans in the $100 range I would trust producing on. Used them before I treated my room.

Re: $$$How do you guys make a living?$$$
I do tech support for a cable company. Lucky enough to be able to do it from home. Getting paid while I type this actually. 8) I have two kids, so I am happy to at least have a job where I have medical/dental insurance for my family. In all honesty everybody I know who makes a living on music barely...

Re: Vengeance
The only thing I don't like about them is that they sound like they're already mastered. Many of the snares and kicks are compressed to fuck. Using these crazy distorted reverb tails etc. Giving you very little creative room to move aside from what somebody else intended. The cymbal bits I do use he...

Re: First Gig,Mix Tips Advice ECT....
Best advice is to not overthink any of it. Bring more tunes than you will want to play and just go with the flow of things. Don't try to force something that is not there and play bangers to an empty floor, assuming that will fill the floor. It's like sex, you don't just wanna stuff it in. Sometimes...

Re: Attempting to produce before learning music...
No reason to hold yourself back. Nothing should keep you from restricting yourself. Best advice is to get like two soft synths max and a sequencer. Learn everything inside out so it becomes less overwhelming, and DO NOT listen to the style of music that got you into it ad nauseam.

Re: Massive LFO ratio sync automation
Not sure if this has been mentioned but a workaround for synched modulation automation with massive can be done like this inside Ableton. Setup everything and in ableton click the "configure" button for massive's vst instance. Open massive and drag the value for the lfo sync rate up and do...

Re: massive monophon/monorotate
Manual says this about the other part of your question. Monophonic allows you to play only one note at a time. Note that the Monophonic mode deals with notes (i.e. pressed keys), not with voices. Thus, you can use this mode and still have many voices per note, as set by the Voice Unisono Control. Th...

Which sampler uses least amount of cpu and uses round robin?
Just looking for something lightweight. So I can turn the latency down low, get fast response from drum pads and have it utilize round robin triggering.

Really impressed with this thing so far. In contrast to what someone else said, I find this to be the most cpu intensive standalone filter I can think of. Sounds great with ohmicide too on a simply reese.

Re: FXPansion Tremor
I love this thing. I had been religiously using waldorf attack as my primary drum synth for the past 10 years. Knew i'd be using this instead after about 10 mins of use. It's incredibly deep while remaining simple and easy to use. They really nailed it with this. Onboard pattern sequencer is fantast...

Just finally gave Tremor a test drive. Hands down best drum synth I have EVER used. This easily replaces Waldorf Attack. Which was my to go for the past ten years. Huge piece of kit any producer would be silly to overlook.

Re: How do you EQ dubstep?
If there was a general rule (aside from the obvious lopass/hipass stuff for inaudibles and phase canc) all tunes would sound identical. Give everything it's own breathing space in the spectrum. That is always going to be based on the source of the sounds you're using. Hence why there is no 100% meth...

have the low end presence be like 30% of what the drop will have. then highpass out that before the drop happens. Not always about the strength of the drop itself, but the lack of strength from everything playing before it happens. Honestly tho, just the way you describe your attempt at a process co...
