Edgar Varese is the man! a lot of concrete i find a bit stiffly academic but his stuff is quite erm, "poetic." haunting. shaeffer's really good as well, and pierre henry is so musically accessable, a lot of the time, that it borders on pop. as boomnoise mentioned, the futurists were there ...
