Re: The Gear Myth - hardware fetishisation
while i agree with some parts, part of the reason the 909 etc is so famous is because they are so good! Amazing sounding, amazing sequencer (far more memory than the AIRA 20 years later, flam, shuffle), individual outputs, will sync really well with anything. AIRA doesnt do half of that. Theres far ...

Yeah, thats the sort of thing, but no computers, more dust, cheaper...
Mastering engineers are not exactly in a shortage so not bothered about that. Aiming at people who havent the space, time, money to go hardware, and or cant play it loud.

Yeah, he put into words something ive been trying to explain a lot about the hardware stuff. Theres a direct connection thats lost with software. When you tweak a knob, theres a direct feedback path; shizzle sounds good, leave, sounds crap; turn back. At this stage, some 2 years down the line of com...

http://mnmlssg.blogspot.co.uk/2011/11/ripping-it-up-and-starting-again.html I've always felt that there was a strong correlation between techno and punk music. Punk music arrived with a particular sound but also with philosophies and ideologies which were probably even more important than the sound ...

Re: Compressing Reverbs
convolution reverbs are great
i used to use pads, breaks, all sorts as the convolving sample. Sample delay trails and reverse, use them. speech is also really cool, not quite intelligible.
one thing you can really do in hardware

Re: Gear lust
LeBlanc, who has been single since purchasing his first modular unit four years ago, believes he has logged roughly 8,760 hours tweaking patches to date, though has never recorded any of his “experiments.” TBH sounds like most modular synth owners that I know.
