hmm. i actually think the atmosphere on this tune is a lot better than the percussion. it's groovey, yes.
sounds like he's listened to a lot of techno and garage. good music.

no, 4 5 1 is still the most common cadence. i just meant those are old terms, and i'm not sure if they're in use. it's been a while since i studied theory

Re: Dynamics and not squashing the shit out of your master
Agree about limiting being a crutch (one I lean on heavily, like I use two crutches, I don't even walk). So how is it that you take a middle of the road synth like Massive and make it sound beautiful and strong, without just increasing volume/rms through saturation, compression, and limiting? I kno...

Re: Two chords, find the key and scale
basically... no... it just comes down to knowing what *usually* works with what. that's all theory is. like i would say the most probable key that would work for those is A minor, because Dm and Em are the 4th and 5th of that key, meaning if you play an Am afterwards, it'll resolve nicely. 'usually'...

Re: Dynamics and not squashing the shit out of your master
i kind of don't even care any more. it's like autotune. i used to want to outlaw that shit but now i don't really mind it that much, hell even kinda like it sometimes. i've learned to hear 'through' it. a good singer still sounds pretty good thru autotune. a bad singer still sounds bad, doesn't matt...

Re: Making the drop "flow"
dude, those old datisk tunes had MAD groove. it had a sort of warped organic funk behind it. okay, you don't like jungle or funk, AT LEAST LISTEN TO SOME FRIKKIN HIP-HOP don't tell me you don't like hip-hop or REGGAE if you don't understand hip-hop or reggae you will never fully understand dubstep.....

Re: Making the drop "flow"

Re: so
no frustration. just the double hilarity of someone thinking dubstep is techno, and that techno/dubstep are not dance music. really got a good hearty laugh out of it.
yeah dr. dre was hot like 15 years ago. it's just everyone's heard it 10 zillion times.
