Re: [POLL] Serial VS. Parallel compression...

Re: Do you put at LFO on your Sub underneath wobbles?

other people might have more knowledgeable opinions on this but....as usual, there's always this train of thought: it's personal preference. and also...with a pure sub sine wave, your only options of modulation to go with your mid-wobble is on the pitch or the volume (or amp envelope parameters in g...

Re: Melodyne and repitching key of vocals help!

i haven't started working with melodyne yet, so i might be wrong about this....if your music and the vocal are both in a minor scale, can't you just select all the blobs in melodyne and move them up or down until their root key is the one you need for your track ?

Re: The Reese Bass Thread

I've followed a couple reese tutorials on youtube in the past. One for massive, one for operator. But I've read a shitload on here and on D.O.A...some of which still only makes partial sense to me cuz i haven't gone that deep yet. But, I decided to do a test and see how much of a twisty-neuro funk-r...

Re: How To Make This Sound - January 2013

this is from an old song, but, the sound always stood out to me and i'm curious about it. by todays standards it might just sound like beginner wobbles but there is something about its timbre that still sounds strange and unique to me. it's from Ollie! - You Stupid tnuc (also had a bare noize remix ...

Re: Unusual 16 bit bass..

grab a bag of potato chips and crush it repeatedly and then tightly wind up a spool of heavy wire cables over and over. :P but seriously...the chrunchier less wobbley sound, sounds like some kind of quick chopped up resampled reese bass. just done shorter, faster and crunchier than usual reese/neuro...

Re: Departure of style for Skrillex...

pretty weak tracks. not completely horrible. the production is clean. I suppose I like "Leaving" the most. as a long time fan of the music that came to be known as future garage...i don't get the vibe that i'll ever have the urge to seek these songs out again. i'm not a skrillex hater, he'...

Re: meshuggah bass/guitar

FM8 is capable of some heavy guitarish sounds. Most of those bands tune to around C#. nah man, meshuggah is in drop F i believe mate If not F it's at the very highest G# I'd say. C# is not low at all on a guitar. I'm pretty sure nirvana In Utero is drop C# just to give you a frame of reference I do...

how to add velocity midi effect only to closed hihat*ableton

i thought this would be easy...and im sure it must be. But im getting lost in abletons drum rack tryin to figure out where to drop the velocity midi-effect to get it to work on only the closed hi-hat. For example when i went to try this out i opened abletons drum rack 'kit' called '909-tresor' ... f...

Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread

I've got a couple simple Ableton questions that I should know, but I don't...if someone can help me: -How do I do a drum 'flam' ? Reason's drum machine has a flam button that let's your hit do a tight fast little roll. Is there a certain way to do this in Ableton, or do I just make the grid small (l...

Recommendations ? new comp./mic/midi keyboard

I'm trying to get deeper into producing this year. But my current desktop pc has become too old and slow to handle the task. I need some recommendations on what I should get...and I'm not trying to go super high end. Basically just what's good enough to get the job done without being slow and annoyi...

How to change pitch of vocal samples without changing tempo?

1st off, I'm using Reason 4.0 I want to have complete control over the pitch and tempo of my samples. for example: if i download an acapella...and then chop out one lyric like: "i see that you're back again" for example. and then maybe i chop it even further so each work is a seperate samp...

cloud of bee's/buzz saw bass ??

you can hear it sprinkled throughout burial songs like Ghost Hardware and Homeless...there's also a pretty similar sound in Biome - Propaganda. It's doesnt seem to be used as steady bassline...just a short little burst of heaviness. Sometimes it's a bit more upfront and buzzy...other times the attac...

How to gradually vibrato my synth ?(like tremelo/whammy bar)

I'm using reason but feel free to describe it in whatever program you use... i want to make my synth vibrato and gradually get stronger like you're cranking up and down on a guitars whammy bar. I know it's nearly sinful to drop this name here..but check out this skrillex drop at 0:56 and you'll here...
