Re: Sidechaining in FL Studio

Why are you turning the knob up? If I use the FL Limiter method for sidechaining, I right click the track send arrow on the mixer sidechained channel -> sidechain to this track, and then keep the signal knob at zero.

Re: A good break down of producers earnings

I've talked to the guy that does a lot of mastering for OWSLA and he was quoting like 150/track, not 200.

Re: A good break down of producers earnings

I don't like the begging at the end - "Buy the EP instead of just one song." No, fuck off. I'll buy the songs I like. I'm all for supporting artists, but not giving away my money to them like some sort of charity. I feel what you're saying, but at the same time I feel like not enough peop...

Re: Remixing Fundamentals/Techniques

I use MP3's a lot for bootlegs, almost exclusively acapellas, because it's often hard to find studio quality copies. I mean tbh I often can't tell the difference, since you're going to be processing the sounds anyway and fitting them into a mix. As for philosophy - mine's pretty simple: be as differ...

Re: A good break down of producers earnings

A nice read and rather refreshing to see someone being so open about their finances, but I can't help but feel he may have been conservative in some areas... Having said that it's surprising (to me at least) to see those sorts of numbers from someone signed and promoted by OWSLA, I'd always imagined...

Re: Do you have your own secret production techniques?

Kinda yeah... although I post about my "techniques" all the time on places like here and when people message me on SoundCloud. For me it's the way in which I do my kicks and also chain things in a mix to get stuff as loud/punchy as I want it, it's not neccesarily technically correct but it...

Re: using beyerdynamics without an amp

I just picked up some AKG K702's for a similar reason, they work well off my external audio interface (Yamaha Audiogram 3) but I can tell they need a little more power as you start cranking the volume (especially to drive the low end). On my iPod I can drive them at max volume and they're still not ...

I hate these kicks and bigroom in general but anyways, they're fundamentally easy to make just google "bigroom kick" you'll get 10+ tutorials.

Re: RASTABOT VOCODER

OmegaMode dude you get so angsty when people say they don't like your stuff... it's comical. As for the vocals... I can hear multiple layers, the most prominent is the initially pitched down layer. Sounds like a bandpass filter/eq too similar to the classic "telephone effect". It does kind...

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!

Long time no post.... feedback below (writing as I listen): @jimbeaux: Lol tbh not my sort of thing, but the sounds are quite cool, for me I'd pump up the kick a little since it gets lost against the midrange - tbh I'd just increase the high end transient to make it stick through the mix.I like the ...

Re: 32 bit vs 64 bit - RAM usage

I'm reluctant to switch to 64bit FL just because I'm unsure about the bridging... atm I'd guess that at least 50% of my VSTs are 32bit only, and since I have enough issues already with 64bit bridging idk if it's worth it... any advice on this from people who switched? Having said that more and more ...

Saw wave distorted with white noise, LFO on the cutoff of a low pass filter, set it to mono, EQ with a straight sine sub.

For a real finished track I'm happy to put up for download... upwards of 3-4 months working on/off fixing the mix and persuading myself its not utter shit.

Re: Designing own 'Kick Drum' sample from scratch - First Ti

I know you don't neccesarily want to use a dedicated synth (you metioned drumaxx etc.) but BazzISM is good - I use it for synthesising the low end of my kicks. I like it because it essentially is just manipulation of a sine wave but the parameters make it very easy, I normally tune the kicks to my t...
