Re: Snare tips

About those 150-250Hz snares… I usually layer 909 with high passed acoustic snare and something with snappy transient. Re: The Reese Bass Thread

After making my song with my brother, I've noticed that one of the reeses I made has similar modulations of the reese in Neonlight's Version 2 remix of Black Sun Empire- Brainfreeze. So I decided to remake the part of the song, horrible drums tho! https://soundcloud.com/logispark/black-sun-empire-b...

Re: Machine-like ring snares

http://www.propellerheads.se/blog/artist-stories/koan-sound-on-sound-design/ "The loud, metallic snares in ‘Meanwhile, In The Future’ were made by putting live snare samples through the Scream 4. It created these huge exaggerated tails which didn’t sound overly distorted." There's probably...

Re: What headphones for around 120 euro for production?

I have a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50's and I am very happy with them. The best thing is not the clarity (which is very good) but more because more than any other headphone I've tested, the sound they produced is the closest to monitors. Often when moving from cans to monitors, you notice things ...

Re: Tip For Young Producers!

PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE......... THEN PRACTICE A SHIT LOAD MORE!! 4 months is nothing! :a: Unless you have a NATURAL raw talent for producing music and take to it like a duck to water, it's going to take YEARS to get to a level you're even remotely happy with - I've been producing at home for ...

Re: How phat is too phat?

One problem I've been encountering during sound design is knowing when to stop. I make my base sound then enhance it with FX and distortion/saturation, however, it seems I could keep stacking these effects into infinity and make a really large sound. I have some sounds that are heavy and loud and o...

I got some notes down from the bassgorilla podcast interview with MakO, here you go: MakO Tips From interview by Bassgorilla: -Make sure it's good m8, check it many times -He uses Massive -Foley sounds add top end to give more crunch (and a possible growl :D).
