Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER

I want in on this...
Who do I send tracks to? And are there any restrictions/guidelines other than getting it done in under a week? Saturday night deadline?

Re: Gear lust

I highly recommended the esq1 if you want great 80's dirty poly synth action. A buddy of mine found one for like $50 at a pawn shop in Petaluma last year, best deal ever. If you are into skinny puppy at all, you will instantly recognize and love the sound. Killer filters

Re: Gear lust

I've no idea what kinda cash these go for these days. It's a funny little synth. My music teacher in high school had one and pretty much let me hold on to it while I was there. I remember it sounding pretty gnarly, but was super hard to program. I never really knew what I was doing with it at the ti...

KnobGoblin_dark minimal heavy WIP

https://soundcloud.com/knobgoblin/istrotojam Track I started working on tonight. Going for a deliberately distorted thick analog vibe ala The Bug, Muslimgauze, Techno Animal, etc. Still needs quite a bit of work and parts to add, haven't started EQing or filtering anything yet so its super harsh in...

Re: the classic "take a photo of your setup" thread

Yeah I do. It's a pain in the ass to program, but it sounds good and does a fair number of things. It's kinda strange; on its own the reverb doesn't sound that impressive, but in a mix it works sooo well. Also since it's been used on tons of stuff from the 90's on, it's reverb just kinda sounds &quo...

Re: Gear lust

I'm on a phone so I can't see avatars, but I assume mks80? Too bad the programmers for those things were as expensive as the synth itself. :o At least now we know Roland is getting tooled up to make analog stuff again, hopefully they make a full analog poly. That jdxi thing seems like a joke. The PC...

Re: Gear lust

It would take an external box or software to do the proper note sorting, but yeah you could make a poly ms20 that way. Honestly, with everyone clamoring for analog poly synths recently, korg should just hurry up and make a 4 voice Version and call it the MS-24. They seem like they've gotten their ma...

Re: Gear lust

Don't remember the price off the top of my head. $900ish maybe? Anyway, looks super easy to assemble. No soldering, just screwing things together and connecting ribbon cable to interface the various completed circuit boards. I bet it would take an hour or so to bolt together

Re: Gear lust

I hope the new ones sound decent enough, cause a I want one of the new ms20m's to patch with my old one for ultimate ms-ex. From the demos I've heard on YouTube it really sounds like an ms20 a lot more than any of the countless ms20 filter clones out there, but then again, that's YouTube

Re: Gear lust

The Minitaur does the moog bass thing well, but not much beyond that. Simple sounds done well. I haven't played with the new ms20's, but other than the mini keys what makes them feel toy like? @MKS: yeah I've a decent sized euro rack system, but most of it is from before the eurorack explosion, so i...

Re: Gear lust

MS20 is way more flexible and interesting sounding. The Moog filter sound has always been boring to me though, so I may be biased.

Also gonna have to go with Dark Souls. All other games seem like they are lacking something after playing it.

Re: Gear lust

@nowaysj: no unfortunately I am not there this year, kinda wish I were tho. Lots of cool new stuff to check out. The new prophet 6 sounds great from the demos I've heard so far. It may be even better than the original prophet 5 because it's all discrete oscillators and filters instead of Curtis chip...

@crimsonGhost: Thanks for checking it out! Thats my favorite kind of track to make! Ones that are super minimal and hypnotic, that kinda stay in a mood. Your track is no longer available, but I listened to Taco Tuesday. The drums sound a bit too DubStepTM for me. Are those the vengeance drums everyo...

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!

Fu5ion: great, but very clean production. It's way clubbier than the stuff I'm into, both in terms of mixdown and style, but you clearly have your stuff together. Nice variations in the bass melody and texture throughout. The arp feels a little awkward when it comes back in during the breakdown. May...
