Re: Raspy sting/pad thing
Been a while since I listened to this song, here is my attemp: https://soundcloud.com/gregory-t-johnson/spitfire-synths Really pretty easy stuff, all done in sytrus, with some sidechain compression on a limiter on the growl. As suggested above much of this sounds sidechained but I just mostly used v...

Awesome additive resampling program.
http://www.klingbeil.com/spear/ This program can analyze a file and track individual partials, pretty neat stuff. It allows all sorts of transforms like pitch shifting, amplitude editing and time stretching. You can also delete separate partials and choose different resynthesis options. It isn't alw...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
I'm kind of getting bored of making growls so I tried someting slightly different... I made a growl using the default 3xOsc preset in FL Studio and then waveshaped and comb filtered the crap out of it. https://soundcloud.com/gregory-t-johnson/3xosc-growl That really sounds cool for 3xosc. What do y...

Re: The Reese Bass Thread
Back from a week long hunting trip, here is a neat reese that took me like an hour to work out. https://soundcloud.com/gregory-t-johnson/much-ado-about-reeses So this was a bit complicated, but once I work on remaking this a few times I will figure out how to make it simpler, then I will share detai...

Yeah FL stock plugins are seriously unappreciated. For 100 bucks you can get most of them here in vst format: http://www.image-line.com/plugins/category/Juice+Pack Best ones in that pack: Delay Bank Love Philter Parametric EQ 2 Waveshaper Wave Candy I use "stereo enhancer" from that pack ...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
A waveshaper works by taking each sample in the input signal and changing its volume based on a curve. I use the default FL Studio waveshaper as it allows for infinitely complex curves. One problem with some waveshapers is if a sample goes above 0dB or wherever the curve ends it will clip the value ...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
That sounds super clean dude! Can you instruct me on how to accomplish that? I don't want to limited to only Harmor, Sytrus, and Massive. Basically I took the default preset then fed it in to a waveshaper which turns it from synth pipe organ sounding crap to a vowel ish kind of FM noise. The wavesh...
