Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
@3D_Shades: The first track isn't working, so I'll comment on the second one... Umm, the intro (with just the kicks) sounds really boring, try adding some ambience, or something there... The synth is fine, but it sounds way to thin, add some more stuff... The overall melody is good, if that's what ...

Re: What do you guys normally get for an average RMS?
I don't find it believable that zomboy has any tracks with an rms of -2db. You must be using that inaccurate meter plugin that was made to trick people into making their tracks quieter to combat the loudness wars... what was it called, tt dynamic range or something? it was just a metering plugin th...

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
@MylarHailSatan: The track is pretty good, I just think the main bass synth gets repetitive after a while ;-) @MiNoR cOnFuSiOn: The synth on this one could use more movement, and variation... I am loving the arpy lead, sounds really happy... Your Kick and Snare, could be louder, it kind of gets suf...

Re: What do you guys normally get for an average RMS?
Just leave -3 to -6db headroom for the mastering engineer. No, what I mean, is when I master, what should my RMS be like... Sorry if I am confusing people :/ I wouldn't really worry about the master at all... is your room treated? Not really, but I am not releasing anything big atm, so I don't real...

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
hadnt noticed the kick tbh. Might just be tiny bit too much limiting, tune is just smashed through t racks, an exciter and satson channel atm. Could be i layered a little something else over the top of the first kick that i didnt on the second that synth patch is just two saws and a sine, bit of no...

So I presume I shouldn't worry about it? I never have, but I do get kids telling me, don't have your RMS higher than -6....

Re: Sennheiser HD
Afaik the 515s are mainly for "entertainment" use, eg. watching movies and the 438s (which I used to own) are Sennheisers really cool street headphones for listening to music on public transport. I'd get neither for producing. The 438s sounded shit but were really comfy if that helps I wo...

Re: What do you guys normally get for an average RMS?
Holy cow, -4db RMS? That is ridiculously loud. You know that RMS isn't the same thing as peak db, right? http://myhometheater.homestead.com/rms.html http://www.gearslutz.com/board/mastering-forum/173236-what-difference-between-rms-peak.html It depends I guess.... Go tell Zomboy his RMS is to high, ...

@FAARE FACED: Your basslines seem a little low to me, but maybe that's just me... what genre would this be btw? It's very unique O_o What do you mean ? Mid or sub ? And about the genre, I don't even know. It's 170 bpm but goes from sort of drumstep to sort of dnb (with dubstep basshits and no long ...

What do you guys normally get for an average RMS?
Was wondering what you guys get for an average RMS, when mastering... I have heard so many different stories... No more than -6, no more than -10... Just curious...
