Re: Need help getting drum samples
Guys is there anywhere i can get free drum samples ? Been searching for a long time but cant find any for dubstep. I love going to free sample websites, and then getting a bunch of high quality acoustic, of 606, 707, 808 909, or other un processed sample, and making my own drums... It's so fun to p...

Re: How many of you actually resample?
can anyone tell me more about the actual resampling process, preferably in ableton? is File->Export Audio the fastest/best way to do this, or is there another way? and you would just export a single note from a single track, and stick it in sampler/kontakt or something like that? also, for wobbles,...

I might actually take advantage of this, since the first master is free... I got a remix that is coming out soon, so I would love to finally have someone else take a swing at mastering my work...

Re: Sleep Producing
Oh god, there is nothing like being half asleep, you got this sick vocal line, melody, pattern, and you tell your self, Ima just sleep for another hour, I'll program it when I wake up... 2 hours later, "FUCK" How did that melody go again

Re: Mastering - using multiple limiters
Yes, I've read similar articles. It makes sense like stacking disto, where you don't want to overdrive the sound all at once. I sometimes do it, sometimes don't - if I do I normally stack an L2 after Ozones maximiser. It's worth mentioning - if you do this, don't forget to disable any dithering on ...

Re: How many of you actually resample?
yea, I use resampling on my reeses just cuz you can make em that much better w more processing. Remember that audio is always more reliable/consistant then midi. Yes I do for my reese also :3 throw it in a sampler/simpler, and your good to go I do and yep there is lots and lots of good reasons to r...

How many of you actually resample?
Just curious, as to how many people here, actually resample their bass? I honestly never do... If I am making a bass layer, I just pick a synth, add effects in the chain, and leave it be... I do see the benefits in resampling, if I wanted to chop it, but I would still add effects after I converted t...

Re: Mastering Compressing Question
I'm sure Chase & Status have someone mastering their tracks. Aren't Madeon and M Machine on that super over compressed sound anyway? If you are going for that vibe it's unlikely there'd be much headroom for the ME to work with anyway. I'd be willing to bet a good ME might send off his own tunes...

Re: Mastering Compressing Question
why not just get a good mix and not try mastering your own tunes on a home set up. which probably isnt really adequate. not to be a dick, just sayin. I do worry more about my mix than mastering... I think for what gear I have, and the knowledge I have, I do a pretty good job, of mastering my own tu...

Re: Mastering Compressing Question
3 options. 1. Have your compression set so that the rest of the mids are compressed to how you like but the snares are over compressed. 2. Have your compression set so that your snares are compressed how you like but the rest of the mix is more dynamic. 3. Automate your compression... All 3 are val...

Re: Some VSTs not working in Live 9 Suite
Unless you use a bridge, but I am just using the 32bit version of Ableton... So do like I did, and save your self the trouble, unless there is a VST, that only comes in 64bit :/jonahmann wrote:I'm guess you're using a 64bit version of Ableton, which does not back support 32-bit plug-ins.

Mastering Compressing Question
So I was just wondering... Lets say I am using a multi-band compressor on a track, during mastering, and I am compressing, per se, the mid range, and during the main part of the track, I get about 2.0dbs or like 2.3dbs of gain reduction max, but during lets say double hit snares, or snare triplet, i...

w0rd...anything could work really. you could hit 4 different ones from highest to lowest one time each...instead of two, twice... or whatever it's kinda hard for me to explain any proper way to do rolls cuz they're a very customizable thing ... you just kind of imagine what ever you wanna hear and ...

Re: Programming Tom Rolls...
the roll in that example sounds like a pretty straight forward 16th note roll. all the hits are right after each other on the 1/16 grid. something like this: midtom, midtom, lowtom, lowtom, midtom, midtom, lowtom, lowtom, midtom, midtom, lowtom, lowtom, floor tom, floor tom, snare, snare, kick+cras...

Programming Tom Rolls...
So for Tom Rolls, I cut 3-6 exact samples, of whatever tom I am using, and pitch each one down a few semitones?... This is what I do, when I do juggles, so I presume, it's the same concept :/ I have been trying to wrap my head around this, for a few days now, looked at a few tutorials, and a few thr...

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
@CYRHEN: Awesome for a start! I love the retro 8bit vibe... Could pair up good with some low reesey growls, or some mario coin hits! :3 Also, if you put a dub pluck, riding that bassline, with some low end ambience, this could really sound fat... My biggest advice, is "Layer, Layer, Layer"...

@Gurnumsbug: I would work more on arranging the sounds, so you have a better structure to work with... Vocals would for sure make this composition pop more, as well as orchestral sounds... I am a huge fan of ambient music my self, so I can respect what you have done here :W: @Flywheel: I think arou...

Fading a track through the master
Was wondering if there was a way, to fade out a section of the track, rather than individually setting volume automation, on each sound, to fade into (for example), a break down.. I use Live 8....
