Re: Why does Deadmau5 etc sound so much more professional?
He was streaming himself working on a track all last night buddy! He was also talking about samples, recording, mixing, vocal processing and all that jazz. edit: His claps are of his own, & he layers them. Also for different sounds, he smacks his ass with his hand and records that...& no i'...

Re: How much do u listen to your music while producing?
I'll literally just have the whole song on loop. Have it going on in the background till there's something that strikes me as standing out and then I stop, adjust it and then go back to looping

Re: How is compression different than EQing?
Yeah, this has already been said multiple times, but just to reinforce: Compression: Think of a sound's dynamic range as a mountain range with peaks and valleys (loud parts and soft parts). Compression DOESN'T smooth it out BOTH ways (it doesn't bring up the soft bits, it just squashes the loud bit...

Re: Would learning Cubase be a good investment?
I know a lot of guys who use Cubase. For chopping up audio and whatnot it look so straight-forward and intuitive.
I use Logic myself but I know that if I was on P.C this would most likely be the DAW of choice for me

Re: clipping
whats it hitting at on the master channel 0 db. Well, with my peak limiter on it. Which the peak limiter makes it clip. Fuck, it's hitting at +3 db without. I assume I just have to lower my volume? lower the lower level on each individual channel and say if it fixes it Okay, I lowered the lows on m...

Re: Fab Filter Mastering Bundle... and other bundles...Worth
Im excited, I just started the trial the other day. Im going to try and purchase as much of these plugins as possible after the trial is up. Do you guys have any advice on good ways to implement saturn? I have almost no experience with it, or muliband distortion units now that I think of it. Only p...

Re: Advice for purchasing a computer?
If you want to run lots of VST's / soft-synth's then you want as much processing power as money can buy. I'd lean more towards getting a higher clock speed than more core's. Yes it's nice to have them if they run efficiently but as soon as one core gets maxed (can happen if your plugin's aren't opti...

Re: How many types of each plugin do you use?
With regards to EQ if it's notching out sections and more 'surgical work' I'll happily use the stock logic eq, for more creative purposes (making large scale boosts or wide cuts) I'll tend to use my UAD Pultec which I am in love with.

Re: Fab Filter Mastering Bundle... and other bundles...Worth
Pro-L may be one of, if not THE best limiter out there right now. My opinion, of course. +1 from my side. I've been demoing the fab filter stuff a lot ATM and this is most likely my next purchase for the studio. Not used the eq or compressor that much but Saturn is amazing for bringing life into so...

Re: At what freq cutoff do you start to make your lows mono?
Usually anywhere between 200- 400 Hz <400Hz mono????? The bottom end of a guitars pitch register is below 400Hz man. That's really high for making shit mono imo. I'd say 150 tops I know, I'm a rebel right? :6: On a serious note, if I was mixing guitars I'd probably not mono that low, especially if ...

Also look into saturation for 'glue'
I keep banging on about this atm (I admit it!) but it can give a very pleasing result
