Re: LFO Filter Without Massacering My Synth Sound?!
Why r you resample and then filter? Zebra's filters are probably better than simpler/sampler.

You should try Absynth or Omnisphere for pads thenToday wrote:I like making pads with massive
the performer/stepper is sick for FX dry/wet, WT, etc.
i guess it is one of the better synths for drums too
Arturia's sound quality is top, but i thought the Arp was useless, i like the Moogs

Re: Best synth!
The thing about Massive isn't only the learning curve. For example, I know EVERYTHING about Albino and the older z3ta version (from back when I produced psy trance), probably even more than I know Massive, but I get better results with Massive anyway. It's not the learning curve but the workflow tha...

Re: gain structure and mixing aka THE MONEYSHOT THREAD
when I start a song I have the kick & snare peaking at 0db with a limiter on the master :6: :noob: actually, most of the times I start songs outside the studio, on my laptop speakers (i get most inspiration outside the studio and I don't have headphones), so it's a necessary evil. i only mix whe...

Re: Feeds Me (Drums)
I'm on my laptop speakers but to get punchy drums you need:
1) Good samples (obviously). Goldbaby have very punchy snares.
2) A very good compressor with a release around 50ms (tweak it, I'm not sure of the value) OR a transient shaper.
3) Everything sidechained to the kick & snare.

Re: 117 Bpm DnB? What? And Why is Dnb sometimes 85 bpm?
Yeah beatport bpm detection sucks!
For example: Porter Robinson - Spitfire (Kill The Noise Remix)
Real BPM: 172 BPM
Beatport BPM: 115 BPM (dafuq?!)
I can understand being 2x or 1/2 (to be truth, the real BPM in Dubstep is 70bpm imho, we just work at half-step) but that one is totally unrelated.

Re: Best synth!
Totally agree with you. Usually, a synth is a trade-off between simplicity (which leads to workflow but lack of variety) and complexity (which leads to variety but lack of workflow). I tend to prefer the first. The thing about Massive is that it is that it kinda breaks this trade-off. That's why I v...

You don't say? Thank you captain obvious!nowaysj wrote:The best synth is the synth that produces the best results for you.
j/k, yes I know that, that's why I said in my last post that it is subjective. what I want to know is which synth is the best for your as in which synth gives you better results

Re: Drum Bus Reverb
I prefer using it as a send effect, allowing me to add processing after reverb (for example, you could widden the reverb on the upper frequencies and mono it on the lower ones).

Re: resonant bass? Headroom issues
You can try making the cutoff of the bandpass filter "follow" the notes. Most synths have this function, which synth are you using? A limiter/compressor may also help.

Re: Dubstep Made Entirely From Voices
yeah beardyman and stuff are technically better at beatboxing. but the thing about dub fx is that his tracks are over the edge, awesome music. even if it wasn't made with his voice it would be awesome.
