Re: Reso Producer Q&A

Do you use a lot of distortion (bass, drums etc)? And if so, what is your favourite distortion plugin/s to use? You also mentioned breaks earlier so the obligatory top 5 breaks question must be asked :6: i use a fair bit of distortion on basses, the trick is a little, a lot of the time. so rather t...

Re: Reso Producer Q&A

Hey Reso, sick tunes mate. Thanks for taking the time. I'm just having a listen once again to "Hemisphere". You mentioned before a little about how you approach pads, and hemisphere has some great pad sounds. Could you explain a bit more about what you used in that track? I used to use FM...

Re: Reso Producer Q&A

best thread I've read in a while, cheers for doing this mate :D one question, how long do you spend on sound design? seems like all I do now is sound design and I never get down to actually making music, do you have the same problem or is it pretty straightforward getting your sounds sorted? I have...

Re: Reso Producer Q&A

No questions but I would just like to say, you are a god for doing this.. so many producers that have made it big aren't even willing to post on any message boards, they ignore any questions about producing and such, let alone post screenshots of their own made secrets and hard work.. Of course man...

Re: Reso Producer Q&A

Since you us so many incidentals and different sounds how do you best preview or find which ones to use in the context of your song? Also how do you go about organizing all your samples and one shots? I use the media preview box in logic, and have a load of fx folders that are from sample cd's and ...

Re: Reso Producer Q&A

Re: Reso Producer Q&A

Sweet thread and props for all the answers! With Technetium did you set out to make a beat that, erm, popped(?) so much or just sumble upon it? How much of your stuff is blind experimentation and how much is planned sound?- I just sit in my chair bouncing up and down to that tune lol  haha tha...

Re: Reso Producer Q&A

this is one of the best threads I have ever read. thanks to Reso for this it would be great if more producers did this - not to copy their style or anything but seeing screenshots of a pro's monitor is just really interesting. while we're naming tunes, I love the remix of Grand Puba - Get It. my on...

Re: Reso Producer Q&A

Good drum tips... already used a couple but resampling the kick seems very useful. Anything for bass? I've barely got started with resampling and was wondering how a typical bassline would be arranged, step by step? For instance in otacon, where it starts off wobbling and then is just like WOHTBBOH...

Re: Reso Producer Q&A

Big up Reso, nice one for the QnA, that 169 track arrangment is a bit mental tbh tho.... you're mad How much of your sounds come from random samples, i.e. stuff you've recorded yourself etc, rather than sample packs? do you record much percussion stuff live? like on the thing you did with starkey f...

you said earlier that you're doing music full time... how did you get to this point? were you previously unemployed and just had the time to produce? or did you decide to leave your job once you reached a point where you knew your tunes would require all of your effort/energy? what kind of stuff do...

Re: Reso Producer Q&A

This is crazy, so many inane questions I feel I must ask. Firstly; did you jizz your pants when you finished Hemisphere and cranked it for the first time? I couldn't tell you how many times I've listened to that tune. looool, no hahaha. It's hard to take an objective view of my own music, honestly ...

Re: Reso Producer Q&A

big ups for this reso :t: do you have a certain structure when it comes to building your drops? or do you try something new each time? cheers When making dance music it's slightly limiting in the sense that you have to stick to even numbers of bars regarding drops and stuff, so sometimes i do reall...

Re: Reso Producer Q&A

Cheers for fuckin sharing this with us man! <3 Got 2 questions myself: - How does your mixdown process go? I usually don't get any further than putting each sound in the mixer and cutting/boosting frequecies. When I put a tune online there's always someone saying : 'Your mixdown could use some work...
