Re: Anyone honestly feeling Juke?

however on the whole juke is pretty sweet

Good Evening Dubstep Forum
I only joined the board to post an event but after reading the dont post non-dubstep events warning I decided against it as we'll only have a little bit on the night, then I found this badboy.
Congrats on being able to mainly have a proper dicsussion about a form of music that isnt what the board is named after. I was half expecting the kind of threads I saw on DnB boards when dubstep started kicking off, just bitching and moaning because is was too slow/just stupid noise/music for people on ket/whatever, even that haters have given decent reasons as to why they dislike it in the main part. Nice one. I've also found load of bits I wasnt aware of, so nice one again.
Ive been listening to Juke for nearly 2 years and still cant get enough of it, there are some bad bits, but thats ture of any genre. In the main I find it good, not always clean subby fun.
Im not really feeling the 140 juke influenced stuff, I havent wrote it off yet, a few bits are alright but its just all a bit slow, juke should be around 160, how can you footwork to a 140 bpm track? its mainly the speed the dancers move at the stops them from falling over.

Ive got a mix on soundcloud thats got a nice jukey end to it, a bit of footwork, some full on cheesy remixes and some not so cheesy remixes. I tend to play a lot of genres when Djing so I though putting a bit of stuff thats accessible to people unaware of juke whilst still having drum patterns that could floor rhinos would be a good idea, check it out if you've got a spare 106.49 mins....

And finally, this is the event I was gonna post, DJ Rashad and DJ Spinn in Liverpool, Thurs 13th Oct, 1st night of their tour.....

Erm, no........pulkpull wrote: Does anyone else find that any pre-existing notions of what is cheesy and in theory should be shit just goes out the window when it comes to juke?

juke? footwork?! whats going on!!
this sentence is probably the most confusing and strange thing I have ever read in my life (and no offence to the person who posted it)
"Also been wondering how the juke/dubstep tunes like footcrab were recieved in places where juke is hot. I know its unlikely footcrabs been heard by Footworkers in Chicago but would be interesting if they did."
i know what Chicago is...

Re: Anyone honestly feeling Juke?
don't think it works all that well at 160 bpm to be honest.

Re: Anyone honestly feeling Juke?
yeah... i know that, i'm saying I don't think footcrab works very well at 160bpm, the sample doesn't sound right and the tune doesn't do much for me either.
i'm sure rashad has a different 160bpm version of footcrab that he plays tho? might be mistaken.

I've done a 156bpm mix for Ninja Tune Solid Steel Radio that airs in a couple of weeks
Actually only a bit of Chicago stuff in it, then joining the dots from that to jit/ghettotek, dancehall, furious acid and grime
