My gut feeling is it's a bit of a dick move to go about the release this way. Loe is entitled to do that, but fans are also entitled to feel a little bit aggrieved by it. Everyone's in the right and wrong.

HOPE THAT CLEARS IT UP THANKS.

if they say that theyre shooting themselves in the foot in terms of hype

I think releasing Midnight backed with Woman is hype generating enough tbh.

I think those preaching some variant of ‘EDM is dead’ are missing something. Yes, the scene has a rather uninspiring crust of worn-out party music (and this is what the world sees of us), but buried deep within there are pockets multifarious of honest, underground goodness. I still see them from time to time. You just have to know where to find them.

I can understand––now more than ever––the temptation to shun anything with 10,000+ follows/likes and plunge headlong into hipsterism, scoffing at the aforementioned crust all the way down. But there’s an evil of a different kind in this: thinking in terms of PLUR, hipsterism necessarily alienates, bringing disunity. I don’t ask you shun anything or anyone. In fact, I ask that you embrace the scene: yes it has its flaws, but you have to see the GOOD in it. It’s not all corrupted. I’ve seen the good. There are those out there just as interested in keepin’ it real as you are, and who have done their best to make it so. You just have to find them. They’re waiting for someone like you.

It’s about good music, guys: don’t ever forget that. And as long as there is anyone, even a single person in the scene who remembers this and lives by it, EDM IS NOT DEAD.

I dunno if youre taking the piss by calling it EDM but ofc its still going

People haven't lost their need to go dance and hear sick music on loud weighty systems. That's the core of it and that's what causes the innovations in the music and brings people together

Shit music, shit promoters and hipsterism will pop up now and then but people don't put up with that so its never gonna take over anything

Japan Blues is the one and only repress I've seen. Wouldn't saying "We'll repress it if it sells out" defeat the purpose of saying it's limited to 300 copies?

I think everyone knows those 300 will sell out anyway. It's redundant and everyone knows it.

I don't agree with the idea that "x artist doesn't owe you anything", people buy vinyls go to nights and support this scene, without whom there wouldn't be an audience for these artists.

I think people have the right to be pissed off about this really, there's been a lot of hype about this. Fair enough this label only pressing 300 as a rule but why is it even getting released on this label? Loefah obviously loves the idea of music and vinyl being about a time and place. It's completely out of place really. Why release it all? This should be on dmz, I don't see mala releasing too much chat or miracles remix on obscure labels.

I also don't understand the idea that if it gets a larger pressing it will be played everywhere, It might be played more but who cares? This release has already been taken out of its proper context by being on a boutique techno label.

My, my, my!

Such talk!

Here's my six main points

1. For the avid record collector there'll be 300 beautiful and valuable pressings of a rare "lost" tune

2. For the digital afficionados there'll be the usual high quality unofficial vinyl rips in excess quantity.

3. BH may have released techno but not exclusively (see 6.5) Also this does not constitute a reason for not buying it.

4. No-one seems to give any credit to BH for succesfully asking for and receiving the go-ahead for this release.

5. If I had my way Loefah would have shelved the whole project after all this abusive talk started so perhaps be appreciative it's happening at all ?

6. If all this pathetic talk hadn't begun, then Loe probably would have given a free digital version away following the release, as he's done before.

7. Sad people, please get a life.

The thread was started years ago by completely different people. Talking about dubstep records makes us dubstep nerds? We all joined a forum to talk about dubstep, we're ALL dubstep nerds

Does anybody have a solid idea of what time this is being released online?

Not got high hopes of getting one, but worth a go.
