This thread officially messed up my Chrome browser. lol
I personally like Dubstep. I have nothing against Brostep though. I just wish they made a better term for it.

Hi,
Can someone explain me precisely the term "Drop" for a dubstep tune ? I see a lot of comments "What a drop !", etc...
I'm french and still a little bit new in the world of dubstep, that's why I don't know this expression, I know this is a part of a music but I never understand which one.
Thanks,
TchoyY

Hi there, the 'drop' is the bit that's usually at around 56 seconds into a tune where the intro stops, could be called a 'peak' I guess.

I'd say in 99% of examples it's just where the sub-bass comes in. It's not by any means limited to dubstep, can pretty much be applied to any electronic dance music.

You when a tune starts to get boring? It's usually that bit.
Tunes should just be constant intros IMO.

a drop is that bit in a tune that makes your mum want to shag your nan. it also makes a lot of people shit themselves purely because of the gravitational pull. 9.81m/s2 for 2 seconds produces a lot of shit ya know

I was going through a lot of records I bought around 2009/10 and I have to say that there just isn't much of the music I loved around anymore. I'm talking the 2562 album, Triangulation, that Speak 10" of Scuba, I also remember loving the Synkro mix of a DFRNT track, what Instra:mental did...
Maybe i'm stupid, but I figured the reason I keep buying more and more house is simply because I was pushed into liking it more due to my favourite producers dropping this Garage/Dubstep/whatever sound I fell in love with.
I hope I make sense. Maybe I'm just looking at the wrong places for new tunes, but I'd kill for new records like the above mentioned.
