FWD>> history lesson please!

Post by benjybars » Fri Apr 20, 2007 1:15 am

can anyone out there from day one give a rundown of FWD's history..

specifically, in 2002-2003 times was early grime played at FWD as much as the darker garage of horsepower etc... would eskimo get dropped for example and if so how did it go down?? did many MCs turn up in them days (i gather Ms dynamite was a regular)?? what were crowds like?

anyone who can give a taste of early FWD days please step up!

What about FWD @ The End? I remember hearing Hatcha's set from this event a while back. I take it that it was in the AKA during a dnb event?

Awesome. How did that come together?

I've always wondered how The End's soundsystem would work with dubstep, it's been very good with other types of music the times I've been there.

Prancehall wrote:A quote from Skepta on the mic at FWD on Friday: "This one is ugly. Butters. Disgusting. Like a nipple. Make it beautiful, Benga. Not like Kate Moss, though - she is ugly. I take her round the back and steal her bag."
I also noticed this on Plastician's myspace:

Boy, i remember the early plastic people days, i remember when Ms Dynimite came down on youngsta's set and tore da place down bk in 2002, there was times when slimzee came down and played grime, and as long as the beats were tight, they would always go down a treat,i think bk in dem days people didnt care, the crowed is very much more thickle now then bk then, coz bk then it was very early days u know, even tho tho the crowd now has extended and they are MUCH more louder than ever!

Its funny u cumin out with that topic, coz i said on many occasions that ive been going fwd since velvet days, i was 15 now im 21 and its going so strong, different faces EVERY week, and its a plesure to c as that night has been a part ov my life since my mid teenage days...

Well, just to let ya know, ill be behind them decks next friday @ FWD, so get urselfs down there! :-)

Sorry if this offends anyone but I personally thought FWD at the End was completely shit! Not the artists, just the rig! Nothing can test PPs set-up man, sometimes I think it could be in a bigger place but at the mo I think its cool that you have to jostle a bit to find your place, keeps the regulars coming in early and hopefully the indie bands and doubters out!

I've only been coming since when Skepta rode Midnight request line the second time, but even then it wasn't every week, and it seemed like people expected there to be a blend of grime and dubstep in the nights with a bit of dark garage, now dubstep seems to have taken over slightly!
Wiley needs to stop messing around and get on the mic once in a while!
