tanmushimushi on discogs is no more?

Post by soronery » Fri Feb 06, 2015 10:40 am

http://www.reddit.com/r/realdubstep/com ... et_rid_of/
For those of you who don't know, TANMUSHIMUSHI is a user on Discogs who has been posting Dubstep and various other records way above the market price, buying several copies of new and old releases and re-selling them at shocking prices. This user is not in it for the music, he is in it for the money. Today I will be sending a message to Discogs voicing some of the complaints from the community in relation to this user. Before I do I want your opinions and insights. The message I am sending is as follows:

User TANMUSHIMUSHI has gone against several of the user guidelines on Discogs including incorrect grading of item conditions, which can be seen here along with various other complaints (including un-insuring items): http://www.discogs.com/sell/seller_feed ... w=Negative.

As you can see from these reviews, this user has also taken to backlashing at negative comments and claiming the majority of them as false claims. You can see on several review replies that TANMUSHIMUSHI has called buyers, 'TWAT'.

I and the rest of the Dubstep community are outraged at the actions of this particular seller. TANMUSHIMUSHI has continuously posted items for sale way above their market value. Items typically go for around £55, even on items that have been sold previously for around average of £10 or less. These actions have had an effect on other sellers, encouraging them to bump up prices also. This user is seriously detrimental to Discogs itself, as TANMUSHIMUSHI pushes the average price of a record they are reducing the amount of people willing to buy new records and deter others from getting into record collecting, harming the future growth of the community.

Many users including myself and many labels even have made several complaints about this user but nothing seems to have been done.

I am therefore here to request the removal of this user from Discogs and banning him from the community.

I will be forwarding this message to other members of the community and will encourage them to complain also, voicing their own complaints.

Surprised Discogs took action but big ups to them. Hope I never have to see his name again.

I bet they got a lot of people asking for a 'block user' option because of him.. I don't think that'd be enough for Discogs to do anything however the recent comments from label owners (Innamind, Four Tet ect.) may have been that final push they needed to actually do something. I'm sure they're probably not happy with the bad press either, whenever you hear about discogs on Fact or similar sites its always "SOME BUYER SELLING X FOR MORE MONEY THAT CURRENTLY EXISTS IN THE WORLD".. makes them look a bit of a joke.

not even like a mean-spirited dude just completely oblivious to how he's being perceived and super greedy obviously. sorta feel bad for him in a way now that he's got the entire internet hating him.

i could imagine such a great ending to this - he just puts all his records back up but at normal prices, makes a good amount of money, and a fuckload of people get records they've wanted for years for decent prices, and he becomes an internet hero :cornlol:

i don't feel bad for him mostly because of how he calls people twats... when he obtains multiple copies of limited runs and jacks the price up to stupid money... ultimate wasteman

what a bunch of whinney c**nt's. So the guy is selling records at a price you dont wont to pay so you whine? WTF! sad state of affairs when a bunch of cry babies are blasting some dude for selling tunes. If you dont want to pay his price dont, but FFS this wack hate campaign is just F'in retarded.

Coming from, more than likely, a bunch of people wearing the latest "insert hip label here" clothes and shoes. Which cost a fraction of the price you pay, to make. I'm probably alone but big up Tanmushi, man's selling records not trying to end 3rd world poverty you whingers.!

derp it's more over annoying he buys multiple copies of a (for example) limited press and jacks the price up to 100s+ of pounds... i'm not all mad and that, but if you see honest sellers selling the same record for how much it's actually worth (a realistic price) and again you don't manage to cop it in time before someone else does, then remember that there is the readily available copies from some dickhead who wants silly money for 2 tracks on a A/NM condition... you're going to be a *little* bit irritated

Wow, what a monger. I love your music and your label but that post has to be one of the most spastic I've ever read on this forum and thats fucking saying something. Its the equivalent of saying Hitler was a nice guy cause he looked after animals.

How anybody in music can support someone stock piling vinyls at the attempt for huge personal monetary gain at the expense of the fans getting music they love is beyond me. Its probably why guys from Innamind, Four Tet ect. are against him and you aren't, while your label is basically defunct now.

The last release on your label was 150 pressing if I remember correctly (yeah I own it), if you would be happy for a load of those copies to be in the hands of someone who has absolutely no interest in the the music you've created or spent the time and money to push then you really shouldn't be putting out music.

Wow that is saying something, thanks ;-)

It's not really like that at all is it. It's more like saying, hey. I know that Obey shirt im wearing basically cost like 4£ to make but I'm gonna pay "?insert hypebeat bigged upp shop?" 45£, but then whinge when a guy reselling records is trying to sell me something for a price I dont want to pay.

You mean the vinyl collectors market? It's been about for years and will continue to flourish like it has done since day dot. The really twats in this story are the sheep who have followed his lead and started buying up multiple copies of tunes. 300 copies of a tune isn't limited. It's a label basically making sure they can keep going if they manage to sell them. There are probably plenty of labels sat on plenty of stock they can't shift. Just because a shop says out of stock doesn't mean it's not available, it just means they 9/10 no longer wish to stock it.

Ouch! No my label is basically defunct because I made it go defunct.

I've seen my records on the Tanmushi discogs page and thought, fair play, if you can get that much for one of my records then big up mate, because in all likely hood it isn't gonna happen.

yeah right, there's warehouses full of sought after early deep medi/innamind/lion charge/whathaveyou, its just most shops no longer wish to stock it

collector's market is one thing, and yeah i can appreciate someone paying 100+ $$$ for some rare disco 12" or reggae 7" thats been out of press for years, but records being put up on discogs for the same crazy prices, sometimes when they're still not even actually released and the guy putting it up just was lucky enough to pre-order before it sells out (at the detriment of those who want to buy the music to enjoy it and not on some make-money-quick-scheme) is a different thing altogether...

be serious

warehouses, no, don't be stupid. But you do actually realise that none of those records sold out upon initial release? It's only now a new load of fan boys who've just discovered vinyl have jumped on the bandwagon that people are crying. :|
