@ Capture pt

Sounds beautifully polished, first off. I would agree that varying those chords even just a little bit somewhere would make it much more memorable. The energy level is on point. One tiny thing... When it strips away towards the end of the clip, maybe pull back the synth that plays on top of those lovely bass blips? That synth plays throughout the whole track, and while it sounds great, I think you get a bit too accustomed to it. Perhaps pull it out in phrases throughout the track? Really though that's release ready and I can totally hear it featured somewhere like a fashion show or a racing game or something haha please don't take that in a bad way cause I like it quite a bit.

I recently found a long lost hard drive with all my old tracks. Soooo happy now, cause I was so bummed about it that I quit for many months. Back in the game now. Anyways, I always tend to make downtempo chin strokey tracks so I've only got a couple more upbeat ones that I'm really trying to get in tune with. This is one of them. My concerns are:
The bongo break, perhaps they're mixed too loud? too weird a sample selection?
The drop being mixed too loud
The bass hit towards the end

let me know what you think, please don't hesitate to be blunt.

I've now replaced the other file with the updated version, decided to go for the rebuild (because I'm feeling too lazy to redo the drums).

@Capture PT

I like the vibe on that track, got a bit of an MLIU feel about it, I think a bit more movement in the chord progression would really set it off! Mix-wise I think if you're going to have big, bold hats like that, you could afford to take the kick up a bit to match them. Good work though!

Good work re: the rebuild - it's an effective mechanic in any situation.

Thanks for listening - I'll have to check MLIU (My love is Underground - right?) - when you say movement do you mean the arrangement of the chords or the chords themselves? Actually on reading your comment some syncopation wouldn't go a-miss on some hits for sure.

The mix was really tough on this one - got outside help and really turned my technique up to 11 (relatively speaking, of course) - at the moment as it is when I play it through my Serato + DJM setup with other tracks the kick punches well and matches other mastered tracks, which I'm happy with. Tho I do listen sometime on just my monitors at regular levels and it can sound a bit thin at times. So yeah - really tough that mix.

Thanks for listening!

Hey man - thanks for the comments and taking the time to listen!

Great idea re: pulling out that sound. When making a track you get accustomed to hearing the same 3 minutes over and over and over that you forget to think of these things - going to put that advice into a new track i'm on.

I'd be stoked to make video game music, not gonna lie ha!

I'm at work right now - but I will en-devour to check your track when I get home in 40 minutes...!

I was actually thinking of adding a few different chords but had another listen and actually think it's good as it is now!

dude this is really groovy. proper disco vibes on this. my only concern would be the weight of the kick, you've got a good bit of sub under it which is great but for me the body of the kick is a bit thin, I think the track would have so much more groove with a big weighty kick booming away. I mean obviously balance it with the track n that, but u kno. Just needs a bit more lower-mid range I guess, just to bring out the body on that kick. I've not had chance to spank it loudly so it might all change at volume.

Looking forward to seeing this one finished man, I'd really like a copy if thats a possibility. love disco and I love disco inspired tracks.

first of all, try to provide feedback before asking for your own feedback, that's the way this thread works and the only way the thread will survive before it turns into posts upon posts of "feedback plz" type comments with no one actually posting feedback. I almost skipped replying but since I listened I thought you could do with some pointers.

First of all your kick is paper thin here, no weight what so ever. Did you really harshly cut the low end? Look at the mixing and mastering thread in the production forum and go back to square one with your mixing.

The second thing is your bass, it has no sub - which is fine, but you need a kick WITH sub to make up for it. So you need to decide what you want. The bass very much hits tightly in the low mid. If your kick had body it wouldn't be such an issue, but as it is it sounds like you've loaded up an organ preset and just called it a day. You need to add your own EQ at the very least if you're going to use presets, but you should try to come up with something of your own. the organ house bass has been done a million times and rarely sounds different at the moment. give it a few years when deep house has moved on and it'll sound fresh again - but for now it's stale.

I'd also say your vocals are FAR to loud. again refer to mixing and mastering thread.

I don't mean to sound harsh, it's genuinely meant to help you out as on your system you might not hear it as I am.

And so,
on to my new track, as always super interested to hear any and all feedback.

Yeah its a nice written track, but It sounds smushed / compressed to an inch of its life. Try giving parts more room and separate the leads from the pads a bit more.

Not to my taste, but have to admit it's pretty well put together. I would think about bringing up the low end a tiny bit but that's just me.

Interesting track. I'm not a big fan of the bitcrushed cymbal (is that what it is?), so I would maybe take that down a bit. Could maybe do with a bit of reverb to give it some space. What did you use for the 303 type stuff?

I tried to make some dub techno and it came out like this. Little half-time section in the middle.

Hello all, would love some feedback on a darker house track I made recently.

Soundcloud

Only been making house and garage style stuff for a month or so under the alias of Libra, used to make dubstep under Depone. Had a year and half break form the music and now back on track. What do you think?

(Ps sorry I posted this in another thread without realising there was a specific house feedback thread)

This is honestly one of the best house tracks I've heard in awhile, it has that aggressive deep house vibe. The only thing I can think of is when it drops, it's all there already; there's no real progression going on. Maybe try starting with less drum elements or adding on some at the midway point, or maybe have a subtle sidechained white noise building on the second half of the drop so it sounds like it's moving somewhere. I'm not saying that either of these are right, just some things to play around with. For me, house music should always feel like its building.

I'm not nearly as good as you haha, but I would appreciate it if you took a look at a couple of my songs!

Cheers man, yeah variation is actually one of my most critiqued elements so i need to concentrate on arrangement some more! Your tracks sound cool man, quite big room sounding! Not my taste but I appreciate the sound all the same

Lmao it's honestly because there is nothing else to critique; it may stem from your background in dubstep where it's not as much of a focused on element. You should give yourself a pat on the back though, looking forward to hearing more tunes from you!

Depone - thats a name i've not seen round the forum for a while!

Everyone seems to be covered by feedback so please excuse my lack of giving, I will make up for it - I promise.

Here's a new bit from me innit.

Really mesmerizing track; I really dig the main bassline! A few things I noticed, when the next synth comes in at 1:10 it all seems huddled together in the middle of the mix, maybe do some stereo separation on that synth and see what it sounds like? And again at 1:55 all these synths feel like they're trying to occupy the same space. Now some positives, as I've said before I really like the main bassline, your sample work is also on point, and while I usually hate that hihat sound, you made it work in the song for me. So good job mate! :4:
