Working on this now. I can get the little animal to get within 2 feet of me. Patience is needed I guess. Any tips?

Re: hand feeding wild squirrels
I have my squirrels taking food directly from my hands now..
BUT - I want to warn you..
One of my squirrels is real fiesty and she likes to smack the food from my hands...
Claws are like razors - she cuts me bad everytime...
I'm now afraid to feed any of them that way - cause I'm nervous.
That's why they run from each other like that..frikken..razor shank

Re: hand feeding wild squirrels
haha, had a crew of squirrel friends years ago.
started by throwing balled up bread bits off my balcony down to them then after a while moved down to ground level and would toss bread to them. after a couple weeks theyd grab it from my fingers. the og was named bread squirrel, named a few others but they werent as cool as bread squirrel.

I can do it on Robins, but I you have to know the same robin for like 1 whole year to do as well as me and my wild-pet robin, his name's Rob. he likes seed and bread.

Re: hand feeding wild squirrels
what u need to do is put a nut on the end of a fishing pole and climb up a tree and when the squirrel goes to take the nut reel him in, they r stubborn little guys they dont let go
Re: hand feeding wild squirrels
i've had a chipmunk do this. I wasn't even encouraging it I was just sitting on the roof of the mall and it came right up.

Victory!
I got the squirrel to finally take a couple nuts from my hands. I just hope this don't ruin him. I'd hate to think he will starve to death by depending on me to feed him everyday.

One of my best pleasures. I love squirrels. They eat anything over here, though, the fat bastards.
