Heh yeah I have full intentions of using it mostly for music. Once I get into a groove with it. I'm still just kinda feeling it out atm. The first few days are a bit dreamy feeling. Apparently after that you settle into a solid focus. Just trying to go with the flow for now.

You can get choline from other foods.

Such as? I'm fully capable of googling, but you are so pleasant.

I added major eggs to my diet and it was a world of change, should go in the minor changes thread. I used to crash after breakfast so hard, now with eggs in the morning I have way more solid energy and it slowly tapers, rather than just cliffing off. Can that be choline, or just actually getting protein and fat?

Gonna assume it's the latter. Eating a bunch of protein in the morning usually gives me solid energy without the carb crash a few hours later.

Bout a week of using piracetam now. Been having to take larger doses than I had hoped. Around the 4 gram mark which is inline with some reports of other users. I've also read you can taper down after an initial loading period so in a couple weeks maybe I'll try to reduce dosage.

Effects are still really subtle. Just a calm present feeling, not intrusive in any way. I haven't tried to quantify my mental performance like with dual N-back tests, but sometimes I notice an improvement in mental flow. Easier time plotting a path towards a conclusion instead of getting caught in the bushy discursiveness. It's kind of like a mental machete. Not much improvement in motivation unfortunately but the improved presentness makes it a bit easier to maintain perspective and avoid distraction. You really need to put in the work yourself and then you'll see the benefit. It won't swing your axe for you but it'll sharpen your blade.

Good way of putting it.

I finished my course of Alphabrain on Saturday and am starting on my two week cycle off before I look at anything else. No withrawal/comedown symptoms as to be expected, however I found Monday morning slightly harder to get through than the previous two weeks when I was on them. Again, no way of knowing whether this is psychosomatic.

Small epiphany regarding this stuff:

A big - and often overlooked part of this - is that your brain needs exercises as well as supplements. Specifically neuroplasticity exercises. If you haven't properly stretched before exercising, you're still gonna creak and crack a little when you go out and exert yourself... and the same with the brain. If we're taking these things in an effort to improve performance, supplements alone aren't enough. We should be challenging our brains too to stimulate growth of new neural networks & greater connectivity overall.

Personally think that is a large part of my day. Like I've got a lot of stuff on total pattern control. Do the SAME shit everyday, I don't even think about it. I might wake up in the middle of it, and be like, oh here I am. But when it comes to work... it is all so dynamic. It is all within one area, but that area is so demanding.

I guess I should be learning Mandarin and mentally rotating interlocking 3d toroids or something, but.

I'm envious of your habitual lockdown. Right now I have pretty much no positive habits. I gotta start grinding out a groove to sit in. I find if you're really productive your first few hours of the day, that inertia carries over for the rest of the day.

Doing stuff to sharpen up is definitely important. I have plans to really go in hard on keyboard practice and ear training. Physical exercise is also a really crucial component, as are sleep quality, nutrition, and meditation. It's tough work getting all the buttons done up and keeping them done up but once you've got the balls in the air it's not so hard.

Agreed, it is moving from rest that is the hardest part, for me at least. That is the part that I've got on auto. Otherwise, I might just be rusted into place.

Finishing my second course of Alphabrain, still finding it beneficial and enjoying the effects. Dosage kept at 2 tablets w/ breakfast, not finding a need to supplement in the afternoon.

Having a break to cycle off, then have just ordered 100 of these for next cycle;

Although not strictly a Racetam, Noopept has been closely related to other Racetams such as Piracetam, due to its similar mechanism of action. It is believed to be somewhere between 1000 to 5000 times more potent than Piracetam.[1] This means that a tiny dose of Noopept is needed for similar effects.

First identified in Russia, Noopept has been the product of important advances in nootropic studies. Due its safety and efficacy, many people are now supplementing themselves with Noopept. Noopept has been approved in Russia to treat some neurological disorders and aid healthy peoples cognition as well as now gaining popularity in other countries.

Noopept Benefits

Unlike Piracetam, studies have shown Noopept to not only improve the early stages of memory creation but also the consolidation and retrieval.[10] Further studies have shown a marked increase in learning and general memory recall.[1][2][3][4][5]

Noopept has successfully been shown to actually prevent brain damage in oxygen deprived rodents, as well as preventing cell death on human neurons.[2][3][4][5]

Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) is responsible for promoting survival and further growth of specific neurons. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is another factor with similar properties, in particular helping to maintain the health of existing neurons and maintaining long term memory. Noopept has been shown to significantly increase the growth factors in animal studies.[4] [8]

Communication between the right and left hemispheres is important for creativity and memory. Noopept has been shown to improve this aspect of brain communication.[11] The same study also found an anti-oxidant effect via excess calcium removal as well as a significant reversal of brain damage as a result of ischemia, brain injury and prenatal damage.[11]

Other studies have shown Noopept to possess the following properties: effective against Alzheimer’s,[3] Prevents certain amnesia, reduced severity of certain headache types, may help immune system, effective treatment for mental retardation and neurodegenerative disorders.[2][11]

How Does Noopept Work?

By working in a similar way to Piracetam, Noopept has an Ampakine action by reacting with the glutamatergic AMPA receptor, it's thought to act by binding to the receptor and allowing for an increase movement of Glutamate between neurons.[9] Glutamate is responsible for keeping the brain and body awake and generally stimulating the body and mind. Noopept can be taken orally and enters the GI tract with a rapid absorption and peak plasma levels reached in as little as 15 minutes.[6] Due to the mechanism of action, supplementation with a strong source of Choline should enhance the nootropics effects of Noopept.

I'm considering trying 'smart drugs' but I can't be asked to go through the necessary ordeal of diagnosis for stuff like Ritalin and Adderall.

Wub, Have you already reviewed that alphabrain stuff in this thread?
Could you review noopept?

Yeah, I gave a first week breakdown of Alphabrain a few pages back.

Happy to do the same for Noopept :)

I'm doing a noopept run now too. I got mine from https://www.newstarnootropics.com/noopept.php which is where I got my piracetam from too. I ordered 10 grams, intending to split it with my buddy, but they didn't get my email asking to send two 5g jars so I said fuck it. Didn't wanna try to split it up evenly and it was already super cheap.

I had tried it for a while and was trying to zero in on dosages. I came to the conclusion that it wasn't as noticeable as piracetam for me. Took a while of not taking anything but have recently got back into it. I've been taking two doses per day sublingual, a couple hours apart. I think I'm seeing some benefits after being consistent with it for a while. I remember piracetam was the same way, apart from the first day where I felt kind of light headed, I didn't really feel it creep up until I had been taking it daily for a couple weeks. I assume the noopept needs time to build up as well. I think all the racetams have a reverse tolerance effect where it ramps up over time.

Wub if you're just going to be necking caps, make sure you eat protein beforehand or the noopept will get slaughtered by stomach enzymes. I stopped taking it orally and switched to sublingual to avoid having to worry about that. I used to occasionally take piracetam sublingually too, but noopept doesn't taste nearly as bad and the amount for one dose is so astronomically small. A large 30mg dose is smaller than the end of a headphone jack. Not the whole metal jack, just the very tip before the first black band. So sticking it under my tongue is really convenient compared to a fingertip-sized scoop of piracetam.

Really though, anyone interested should give noopept a try. It's harmless and exceedingly cheap. You can buy a year's supply for less than a case of beer. And if you find that you respond well to it, it's an awesome thing to have in your vitamin regimen.

Cheers for the note, I'll be taking it with breakfast (eggs) as per my Alphabrain.
