old skool (breakbeat) hardcore

Post by badger » Fri Sep 21, 2012 12:36 pm

at assassimon's request here's a thread about old skool hardcore. this is the music that influenced pretty much all uk bass music today and is quite possibly the best thing ever (a very close second to uk garage!)

shame that the scene split into 4x4 happy hardcore (mostly utter wank) and jungle because the combination of breakbeats and darkness with cheesy vocals and pianos in 91/92 was awesome

PS - if you like this music, uncle dugs has an old skool show every friday 11-2 on rinse fm (it's on now, but he's in interview mode atm)

if you don't recognise the above tune you should be ashamed of yourselves

Totally underrated breakbeat wise (not gabber or breakcore obv). Dark lofi grittiness!

I'm on a massive 92/93 kick lately actually. Might post a mix at some point.

Love it :D

This tune got me into dance music!

Also this is my homage to that style, with my particular twist to it.

Wish I could have made it sound a bit more raw and unpolished though.

Yeah gotta love the old hardcore business. That rhythm on the loose track is one of my favourite of all time.
