Are dsf members still attracted to conspiracies?

Post by nousd » Sun Aug 11, 2013 3:18 am

I get the impression that there are fewer dystopian visions in propa dubstep now days.
Let's see.
Probably needs at least 100 respondents out of the 50 000+ dsf members to get an idea.
*edit for Annunaki*

"High officials, politicians & judges support pedophile network"

Deepends what you mean by support. Did they (Catholic Church) willfully and neglectfully fail to adequately address pedophiles in their Parishes resulting of abuse? Yes. Are they all in collusion to rape children in secret with odd rituals etc etc. I highly doubt that.

All those other conspiracies lack sufficient evidence and/or are dangerously misguided.

About banks, I thought the Libor scandal was a well and establish fact?

yeah couple of them are facts; Libor happened, and most big companies arrange their businesses so they pay as little tax as possible, why wouldn't they.

if you look at the hasbeens and dead people being outed as paedophiles and no-one powerful or current it does hint at some people being untouchable from the circles they move in, I would say in all likelihood Jimmy Savilles friends in the monarchy and then conservative government are probably doing unspeakable things...

"Big banks collude to manipulate interest rates"

??

Interest rates are set by central banks, that's their job. That's not a conspiracy theory is it? Like, this is just.. common practice.

I also voted yes on "A secret elite seeks a new world order & global control" but it's not a secret elite and it's not some illuminati plan made hundreds of years ago in Bavaria that's manifesting itself now. It's just clever business practice if the possibility is there and you have the means to do it. Some higher ups admitted that much.

Votes yes on "Google arranges its affairs to avoid paying tax" too. Big businesses try to get as many tax breaks as they can. Any business does.

The conspiracy is that many of the big banks were issuing rates that misrepresented/overstated their financial health.

I blame deregulation. The misrepresentation of the banks' situation is also always backed up by these rating agencies
that are supposed to be objective (at least to an extent).

Ah well. I'm not a believer but they could've.

There is no deregulation, that's the big myth people fail to mention when it comes to banking. While the private banks are "deregulated", the central banks are given more power as well and are given the ability to print money at artifically low interest rates to lend at private banks, creating both the incentive to malinvest AND the promise to catch the banks if that malinvestment fails (some of the central banks are publicly owned, or private corporations with government backing). Then the consumer is stuck with the bill. This is what happened in Iceland as well, but no one ever mentions the role of the government sanctioned central banks, just the private ones.

Our banking problems are the direct result of pro-monopoly and legal tender laws created by the state. It's shit cuz when that fails, government scapegoat the private sector and use it to increase power over it to "protect consumers and the public".

Banks are supposed to be places that issue currency and store wealth. Not tools for public policy.

... I.. think I may be derailing this now. Yo, sorry sd5. If anyone wants to discuss this with me just pm me.

How can you not believe some banks issued rates that overstated their wealth.
I don't even see how that's a conspiracy.

This is the first time I heard about the story specifically, should I just get out and have faith in it because some guy on DSF told me about it? I said I dont'believe it, I didn't say it doesn't happen and in my reply to you there is a solid explanation on why banks can get away with doing what they did anyway. When I say 'I don't believe it', it doesn't mean 'it can't happen' or 'it didn't happen', it means I have no opinion on it.

I should say that I don't use 'conspiracy' to imply that it's false, that's not what it means. The banks did actually do these things I agree. The word has been hijacked in that respect.
