Has chaos swept the streets yet? And more importantly, when can you again visit a National Park? The US government has begun a partial shutdown after the Republican-led House of Representatives refused to approve a budget for next year.
A midnight deadline passed without agreement despite a last-gasp appeal by President Barack Obama.
More than 700,000 US government workers face unpaid leave with no guarantee of back pay once the deadlock is over.
Republicans have insisted on delaying President Obama's health care reforms as a condition for passing the budget.
It is the US government's first partial shutdown in 17 years.

As a radical-leftist, I despise Obama, but the Republicans are definitely responsible for this one as far as I can tell.

Re: [POLL] US Government Shutdown 2013
yeah "Obamacare" is a load of right-wing bourgeois bullshit, but the Republicans need to just stop trying to fight this thing. Fucking stupid. Not only that, but it's shit they'd totally support if black communist Obama wasn't pushing it.

Universal health care is right wing?SCope13 wrote:yeah "Obamacare" is a load of right-wing bourgeois bullshit
Could you clarify on this...the idea of a universal health care bill was discussed with former Republican governments then?SCope13 wrote:they'd totally support if black communist Obama wasn't pushing it.

Companies only have to give benefits to full time workers so theyll all just cut hours & hire more ppl
The result is ppl get less hours -> less money -> no benefits -> forced to buy insurance/face $$$ penalty -> get 2nd job (if lucky) -> make less overall than before but work more
As long as minimum wage stays where it is its flawed
And companies that cut full timers now save $ bc they dont have to pay for health benefits

Re: [POLL] US Government Shutdown 2013
It's in no way universal health care. All its doing is requiring you to buy health insurance, AKA massive blowjob for the insurance industry.
The idea of the individual mandate originated in the Nixon administration. The Heritage Foundation, a very conservative think tank, along with Newt Gingrich, championed the individual mandate during the Clinton years as an alternative to Clinton's proposed health care reform.

Obama breaks his promise to children and families for healthcare through the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
The ACA requires employers provide affordable health insurance options to employees, and employees are required to pay up to 9.5 percent of the employee’s income for the supposed affordable care.
While employees will be able to obtain healthcare and pay up to 9.5 percent of the employee’s income for the healthcare, the healthcare does not include family members. The result is many families are ineligible for subsidies and face up to $15,700 in healthcare costs through the exchanges.

So the issue could be resolved by raising minimum wage?
Re: [POLL] US Government Shutdown 2013

Just reading about the differences between Democrats and Republicans, how can anyone who's not an old religious idiot be a Republican?
