keep off internet, sep partitions for windows, programs, samples and project files
ccleaner and defraggler
audio optimizations which an easy google will list the majors
use tiny xp install to keep bs off comp not necessary and unnecessary background applications
max out ram and keep case and case fans unobstructed with regular air dusting

Haha! Sorry I actually laughed there...

Erm...something productive to add....er....don't smoke around your computer! Or if you do, clean out your keyboard and mouse regularly and open up the tower (if you have one) and clean inside cos it gets bare filthy with ash.
