Anyone tried or own the Adam A7 monitors?

Post by rfk » Tue Mar 23, 2010 6:26 pm

Most likely purchasing these once I save up enough, almost there...
was wondering what peoples thoughts are who have tried them? or if there are better monitors for around that price range (£670ish-pair)
cheers

There's definitely some on here who have them. Try the search function even tough it's shit. All good reviews that I've heard though.

i've only recently just got them and i fucking love them. They sound so clear and crisp awesome awesome monitors. The bass response isnt amazing though, and most people would go for the mackies 8's that are like £100 odd more expensive because it's got a larger bass sound. A7's are perfect for small room productions imo

great clarity in the midrange and nice highs that you can listen to for hours and not get exhausted by. not the most low-end in the world.

Got mine couple of days ago, still yet to have a proper session on them but just listenin to mix's and some of my tunes makes me  Really good clarity through the mids and highs. Low end I guess lacks alittle but still packs a nice punch (more than enough for my room which is fairly big).

Whats really impressed me so far is (im not sure how to describe it but) the depth you can hear and somewhat feel of the sound is amazing. Itching to sit infront of them and make some tunes, damn these night shifts!

Or what about the A5s with the adam sub?
If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits 88 miles per hour, you're going to see some serious shit.

I was almost about to get these but ended up with the hs80m. It has only been like 2 weeks but I am still happy with the decision. The clarity in the low end is what won me over. Adam's I think I would NEED a sub and tack that on to the price plus I am sure my neighbors would not be too happy with hearing sub come through their walls at 3am. That said I am probably still going to get the sub for the Yams but being able to use them without the sub is a plus.

A7's are really good. I only had one problem, a week after I got mine one ribbon died so I lost my highs but Adam replaced it and since then alls been good.

Very sweet Mid/High but I'd agreew ith what someone above said about low end. I have a sub but I have noticed that they are not the lowest but for the price you cant complain! I have spent plus 13hours in sessions with them and still felt ok to listen to music so easy on the ears!

Also just so you know Furure Music voted them best in their price range!

Although they're honest in terms of sound, they're missing an octave at the bottom (yeah, 6.5" I know), so I wouldn't recommend for bass heavy music, unless you've got a couple of extra £/$/100 to spend on the accompanying ADAM Sub. There's always the Mackies if you've got extra, which is better than buying monitors and a sub imho if you want bass response; or for a bit less than the ADAM's you can get some HS80Ms which is what I've currently got. They're pretty crisp and upfront with a fair amount of bass all the way to around 40Hz.

^Agreed^

Thing is I like in a semi and have a bitcgh of a neighbour so the Mackies were not an option for me as they are waaaay to Subby! Heavy speakers but the new ones are nothing on the old ones!

Yeah same. :D

Had the money to buy some P11A's at one point; but I'd drive my flat mate and the neighbours mad. Neighbours FTL.

Easy Ryan you badman ;)

I've had a little bust on the A7's and yeah they're nice, but echoing what everyone else is saying really, need the sub to get the lows heard, and given the kind of things you produce, I'd say look into some Mackies.
