New label, please check out - CLINIC

Post by oscarhenson » Mon Jul 12, 2010 9:50 pm

posted in main section, but thought it was maybe mroe relevant here so i'll repeat:

me and two producer friends have started up a sort of label named Clinic. it's mainly to release our own stuff, but we welcome people to email soundclouds and stuff and we're happy to support people we're feeling. it's hard to get any sort of promotion or recognition at such an early stage and without proper backing, especially when you're not making the filthier aggy stuff (thats not really what our label's about), so we've decided to do it proper DIY.

we're going to release a string of free releases complete with artwork (contributed by young artists/photographers that contribute) which, once out, we'd really appreciate you checking out. in the mean time, it'd be great if you just checked out the blog and maybe followed it, and if you're interested in putting out a free release through us, email clinic.records@hotmail.com and we'll try and select ones we really feel.

CLN001 coming soon, hold tight!

I'll bookmark your blog and if you turn out to be something other than a bedroom dj pipe dream I'll plug you a bit where and when I can. Good luck.

It really isn't all that expensive to produce vinyl, I'm surprised more people don't do it.

My thoughts exactly. Come on guys...plug yourselves.

Where is the distro going to be?

How do you plan for promotion?

Will the tracks get mastered professionally?

Will artwork be provided?

there's a bunch of us, and every month or couple of weeks we're gonna post little 2-track releases, or EPs, with option of 320 and wav. we're designing cover artwork for each one using work from local young photographers/artists. we're basically just setting up a way by which we (and others) can get our work out regularly to a hopefully open minded audience. we just think it's a lot nicer than sending 320s via soundcloud etc - this way means we can take time to compile coherent releases, retain good quality, and do proper artwork. we're just doing it all ourselves and hopefully you'll feel the tracks, that's what matters. first release should be up in the next week or so, it'd be great if you could check it when it comes and not write us off too soon.

regarding promotion, we're going to be spreading the word however we can and are looking into organising a night to accompany it and put people on we like etc.

and regarding deciding to put tracks out through us, it's completely down to you, but i don't see a reason not to.. it's extra promotion, it's a chance to have a nice release with artwork by talented young people and it's contributing to what i think is a pretty worthwhile idea. we're all just trying to make music and have people hopefully feel it.

yeah, just trying to give as many people as possible a look in. first one should be in the next few weeks, the three of us are each in the process of finalising and cleaning up mixes of a release each, and then we'll decide which one to release first.. so soon!

OUR FIRST FREE DIGITAL RELEASE SHOULD BE UP SOME TIME IN THE NEXT WEEK

- CLN001 will be by Trekk, including the track 'Seize'. Here's Seize, plus a clip of another forthcoming track:

- CLN002 will be following shortly, and will be coming from myself. Here's some tasters of what's to come, including 'Viaduct' which will be on CLN002:

- CLN003 will follow after that from Wolfson. Here's a couple of his works in progresses to show you what sort of tip he's on (don't want to spoil any of his finished tunes this far in advance of his release):

hope you're feeling the tracks, and hope you'll download CLN001 from Trekk once it's up hopefully in the next week.

I'm somewhat surprised, Trekk - Ting is awesome if it isn't getting released, it should.

Are you guys exclusively doing dubstep or just anything that sounds good?

cheers thanks for the support, yeah we're doing the sort of surrounding areas of dubstep, so I do more straight dubtep and garage, trekk does quite a lot of future garagey bits and wolfson does more minimal housey/funky bits, and we've got a release from a witch house act named 'prayers' coming up soon. we just want to get our stuff out
