Been sliding faders up and down all day, don’t know
what level anything should be at now. LOL I know I should just walk away, but I can’t. I have to finish this…
Help me.

Sounds like you need to step outside the studio and enjoy a spliff/smoke/Dr. Pepper, whatever your preference might be.

I can imagine some disgruntled engineer by the Mississippi singing to himself now "Ohhhhhhh I got the... mixdown blues..."

I have a great image of a man with a harmonica sitting in front of a gigantic mixing board. it's pretty great.

Had a beer last night, and chilled out. Came back, stopped trying so hard (read:
stopped caring completely), set each fader to where it sounded right and left it there. Went to sleep.
Listened today in the car and the mix was downright beautiful. Work of art.
Lesson learned: Drunk mix = Perfect mix.
I will now be drinking before every mixdown.

ha, ^ inspirational. I approach mix downs with something akin to panic... Maybe panic + DMT + getting thrown out of an airplane with just a hefty bag with a hole in the top.
Madness.

its real easy to over think the mix in some cases. try to remember not to use eq/comp etc for the sake of it.
when i approach a mix i always think more about how to entice the listener nowadays, rather than trying to get a particularly technically accurate mix. people mix in different ways, try n put your own stamp on it and dont worry too much about it.
hope that helps
