Syncing LFO Speed In Automation Clips [FL Studio]
Is there a way to see the sync rate of an LFO Speed within an automation clip?
At the moment I get a bar, that's alright to manipulate by raising the levels to increase speed, and lowering to decrease.
But is there a way to see the select the exact sync rate? For instance 1/4 to 1/8?
Cheers

No, and idk why they didn't put it in FL10.
What you could do is clone the sound you're using, and just make each of them different speeds like 1 step, 2 step, etc. That way's a lot easier.

But what if I want to increase the rate from 1/4 to 1/8 with a single note?

I just use the edit events for all my lfoing. No syncing but itsnot that hard when you get used to it.
Auto clips are annoying and clunky when automating something that intricate.

How does edit events differ? Don't believe I've used it before....

If you right click on a parameter and click edit events, a window will pop up.
Close that window and go into the piano roll of the synth and change the target control to your lfo speed.
Basically it just makes it easier to control what is goin on. It's a graph instead of a line. Give it a try and you will see how useful it is.
Re: Syncing LFO Speed In Automation Clips [FL Studio]
i dont use LFO's and control the speed. I control the bare cutoff in the edit events for my wobblez...much more control and easier to sync it
try it

Have tried that before but tbh I can't get used to it at all.

1 step = 15%
2 = 23%
4 = 31%
8 = 41%
16 = 50%
32 = 60%
Easy as that, fuck hand drawing lfo's, that must take you literally years...

Re: Syncing LFO Speed In Automation Clips [FL Studio]
nope...does take a little bit longer, but it can make it sound much better. you can make it lfo whatever shape you want like go from sine to triangle to ramp to saw to square or whatever unlike just automating the speed of a sine lfo.Basic A wrote:1 step = 15%

Re: Syncing LFO Speed In Automation Clips [FL Studio]
Op write your automation in events. This means the automation is exclusive to the pattern that you wrote it in. Example:pattern one has one bar c note with a 1/4 rate wobble. Now on pattern 2 you can have a 2 beat f note 2 beat another c note with the f note having a 1/8 rate and the c note having a 1/1 rate. Just a example but I hope you know what I mean. You can have different patterns having different automations of any parameter . It's alot better workflow than having a bunch of automation clips taking up space in your playlist

For wobbles, I think the two best things are the FL Keyboard controller, which lets you change the wobble rate with midi keys. No need to make sure the automaton is exactly on 23% to have the right synch rate, you can have different wobble rates connected to different midi keys. This means you can go crazy with different wobble rates just by drawing different midi values in.
I prefer the FL envelope controller though, which lets you draw in different automaton clips, which are then triggered by different midi keys. This way you can have speeding up and slowing down wobbles quite easily, or wobbles that do all sorts of other things.
Basically, with the two controllers it's much easier to control everything. There's a thread in which I wrote how to hook them up somewhere in this forum.

Can you please find that thread you wrote? That sounds very interesting and sounds like it could be beneficial to FL workflow greatly. You should be able to find it in your user control panelgrooki wrote:For wobbles, I think the two best things are the FL Keyboard controller, which lets you change the wobble rate with midi keys. all i do is clone my massive channel and set the sync rate to different speeds and paint away. allows for really intricate basslines

For more interesting effects, the envelope controller is set up in a similar way.grooki wrote:This could be used for a whole lot of different things, not just to link LFO rates to keys... One thing which I am excited about is different filter values depending on the note being played. I love all this link up stuff which makes compositions as a whole more dynamic because everything feeds off something else. Like sidechaining pads to percs and stuff... anyway here it is for LFO rate, but could be whatever:
This looks complicated, but trust me it's f*ckin easy.
1. Load your synth/patch that you want to wobble.
2. Load a FL keyboard controller (from the channel menu).
3. Find the Speed parameter of the LFO. So this depends on the LFO you're using. You could be using the built in LFO in the 3xOsc or a sampler channel, or you might have hooked up a filter to the PeakController LFO (for much more control over the sounds, since this LFO can be implimented after fx have been added). If you don't know how to do this, it's something else you should learn.
4. Right click and click "link to controller".
5. Under "internal controllers" choose "note" of the Keybboard controller. You could use velocity for other things but not now (THis would awesome if you like playing your parts, like as your playing the lead melody the filter opens up the harder you play or something).
6.Click Accept.
7. Now click on the keyboard controller (KC). See it is set at C5 and has a knob next to it? When C5 is played on the KC no sound will come out, but whatever is hooked up to the KC (the LFO speed) will take the position/value of that knob.
8. Choose the next key on the (upper) keyboard, say the next white key D. Choose a different LFO speed for D by choosing it on the knob.
9. Now in the piano role for the KC, have it always playing either C or D
10. Write some notes into the Synth/sample that you are using.
11. Press play.
12. Brock out.
You could layer the KC and the synth too so that it automatically changes the wobble depending on what note the B line is on too.

idk why you guys are goin thru the trouble of setting up controllers and crap when you could be spending less time yet having more control over your wobble by edit events or automation clips
Re: Syncing LFO Speed In Automation Clips [FL Studio]
This sounds a bit foolish to me. Have you actually tried the technique outlined above? Once you know how to do what I'm talking about, using edit events for wobbles is wasting time, less flexibility, less creative space.jrisreal wrote:idk why you guys are goin thru the trouble of setting up controllers and crap when you could be spending less time yet having more control over your wobble by edit events or automation clips
