This Snare

Post by narrator » Sat Oct 08, 2011 12:48 pm

Anyone have any idea on how to get this snare. i'm pretty sure it's a few classic drum machine sounds layered together but cant figure out what they are.

such a great snap off it.

To me it sounds like a pretty standard white noise snare, 808/909...etc, with an electric tom - with it's high end cut - layered under and the whole thing eq'd to give lots of punch in the low end.

Don't think you're ever gonna get it 100% the same unless you sample it man, even if you do manage to, when you write a track under it it'll end up sounding different because the musical content behind it is different and interacts with it in a different way than that track does :/

huh. i think that snare sounds a bit crap really. actually everything "chromeo" is involved with seems to be a bit crap

to me sounds like the snare from the original linndrum machine. DM-1 i think it was called. detuned a bit. and filtered and compressed. at some points it sounds like there's a 909 clap layered w/ it.

oh n those hats are 606 if you wondering

This, except I think there's an Action snare in there too.

This, with a plate reverb on the "high" layer so it trails off nicely
