"The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources." - Albert Einstein

I find watching music documentaries really inspiring too.

Stop listening to dubstep.
Listen to music you thought you hated...
Try to invent a new kind of music (but not a new name for it).
Get involved in other forms of art.
Go to museums, exhibits, or take an art class.
Get better weed.

Everything I've done/made is pretty much accidentals each single time.

Don't limit yourself to a "schedule" or regime while making music...be ADHD with what you do..and you'll find out some bomb ass melodies or whatever.

The only bad thing about this is that you'll have each part of the song sounding like its own different song :'( #StoryOfMyLife #HashTagsOnDsubtepForum #JustGotOffOfWorkGetOnMyLevel

Listen to other genre's of music
Watch some movies - for me SCI FI (pay attention to the sound effects/score)
Travel / Visit some random cities - Wandering around cities like Shanghai/Hong Kong were extremely inspirational for me
Limit the tools you use - for example try making a whole track with only 3 or 4 samples or just one synth / no samples / efx
Spend some time with other creative people
Try out photography
Find a piece of video and try write your own score for it
Don't make music for a week - just mess around with your synths making loads of sounds.
Also - try take a week off making music and just write down all your ideas as they flow - when you start again you'll have a mountain of ideas.

Thats funny because I was in Hong Kong awhile ago, took a ton of pictures and had a huge creative block. What works for me is not forcing it. I work when I want to work.

For me being creative means being prepared to make something shit, not holding myself to standards. When I forget that the next track I make is not going to make me famous, I make crappy music which I don't like.

Make a track complete from own recordings, always fun and helps you think outside of the box!

Grab an album out of your parents collection that you've never listened to before.

Listen to it all the way through.

Sample it, taking at least one element from each track on the album.

Attempt to make a tune out of just those samples and nothing else.

If your looking for a sample or something to put in open your sample folder close your eyes and randomly move your mouse around. Open eyes use whatever sample your mouse is closest to.
