what is the basic gear i need to get to start djing and producing.
and how much will i need to get a decent set up going,
i am really serious about getting into this, messed about on my mates midi sequencing progs and really enjoyed it

Depends [on lots of factors] really, i suppose.

But, i'd certainly start with a decent PC/Mac.

Consider fitting a decently spec'd soundcard.

Download some software demo's [depends what you've used before, what you think you're gonna be comfortable using, ask mates what they use and for what kind of music]

Get some decent monitors [or quality headphones if sound levels are gonna be an issue with family/neighbours etc]

Practice, Practice, Practice
