How do you pick yourself up when feeling a bit miserable?

Post by Pistonsbeneath » Sun Aug 24, 2008 11:02 am

I try to avoid feeling miserable if i can help it but it sometimes creeps up on me....

I currently don't care for anything...music, food etc & just sitting reading quietly is the thing that allows me to switch off...

i see myself as a positive person and am 99% of the time....just wondered how people on here cheer themselves up..

sorry if this post is emo :)

glare angrily at yourself in the bathroom mirror shouting "STUPID LITTLE BABY, STUPID LITTLE BABY" and bashing your cranium with the shower head until you cheer up.

All about tea.

Also I try my best not to take it out on others because it tends to end up being reflected back.

I find a swim or run is a good way of refocusing that negative energy, plus it releases endorphins.

1> A good hot meal of healthy food.

2> A good night of uninterrupted sleep

3> Exercise of any kind (the best of which involve either vigorous sex or fresh air)

4> We all need direct sunshine just like flowers and plants

5> Get some proper time away from any form of screen (PC/TV/Games Console/Cinema) to collect your thoughts together and work out where you want to go in life and what you want to achieve etc...

6> Make a list of small things that make you happy (For me, I love taking a shower with lot's of different shower gels to choose from!)

7> Help someone else solve their problems or perform a charitable act

8> Repeat step 1 & 2 every day!

gonna go for a walk, see what happens. got a window of about an hour and a half tonight in which to hopefully communicate my feelings. with a bit of luck she doesn't feel too different from me. confusion central though. good luck.

1) do some weights
2) give someone a booty call, if this isn't an option invite pam and her 5 friends round
3) take up a martial art, good way of refocussing negative energy
4) listen to good tunes
5) watch your favourite comedy show

My best advice is not to give in to it. Do whatever to break the negative thoughts. Go for walks, call friends or family, spin some records, see a movie etc. Make yourself do stuff even though you don't fell up for it.

Rock on.

Personally, I've found that playing a round of vice city, watching old cartoons (Scooby-doo, your time!), or drinking caffeinated beverages and hanging out with the homies is enough to fix most emo moments.

EDIT: and when that don't work, doing a line of whatever prescription product I have handy seems to help too.
