To answer Serox's questions...

Serox wrote:Can someone tell me how I can set up a bus in Reason? Reason does not have busses. I tried to do the same thing using the small mixer but couldnt get it working! :o

Cheers.

Easy! ;)

Creating a Bus in Reason:

Here I have created a drums bus.

Using the Malstrom as an Insert effect:

Using both Insert and Send effects to achieve badass basslines!:

Futures_Untold wrote:-Explore applying the Scream 4 distortion device as an insert, then a send, then both at the same time. Stack your Scream4 units. (Mal--->Scream 4--->Scream 4---->Linemixer---->Send to Scream 4---->Scream 4----->Insert output of line mixer into a Scream 4---->ECF Filter.)

This same setup can be achieved in any DAW which allows both insert and send effects configurations. (Most of them including Cubase, Logic, Pro Tools, FL Studio, Sonar, Digital Producer, Audition, Samplitude etc etc)

the first thing you learn in recording arts (should any of you ever find yourself wanting to take classes) is called:

THE SOUNDCHAIN

input / output

it's alot different in the digital world, because most programs (with the exception of Reason and a few others) don't have physical modeling for your ins & outs

but yeah

input / output

buss / send

mantra

Yup, Reason is a good program to use because you can actually see what your doing, unlike other DAW's like Cubase & FL Studio etc....

I've taught people how to set up real studio gear using Reason as an example tool! :)

Shout out to Propellerheads for making this program in the first place! :Y:

yeah

you just have to pretend the cables exist in most DAW's

took a while for me to get beyond that (in the late 90's)

very well put. i know its not an option for everyone but learning on real mixers with real hardware makes it alot easier i think. auxileries were confusing.

edit: i dont actually have my own mixer, ourboard processors,fx etc just learnt on one.

don't forget returns! at least in logic, having busses send to aux returns is a really powerful way to process audio.

Also that's just a picture, not a DAW.

Yup your right  ---> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Audio_Workstation

But my initial point is simply that the signal path in many DAW's function much as demonstrated by the pictures (which just so happen to use Reason).............!

I'll change it to say something more appropriate when I get home from work again.

Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

This thread is golden! What's the larger picture though? I feel like all of this info is very important but I do not know HOW it is important.

I just hooked up a bunch of scream filters like in the last image and literally created the most disgusting sound I've ever heard in my life.
I'm shaking it was that intense.
