you should use a headphone amp/interface...should help that lack of low end. and about the comfort issue, I had that problem at first, but I got used to it eventually...now, any headphones with normal headphone pressure on your head feel wrong to me, feels like theyre falling off.

im about to get these ahah had these in mind before i had read your post. returning them today and pickin up the 240s.

i have an apogee duet but haven't asked my dad if i could use them but most definitely he will let me have it. ye i can deal with the comfort issue i don't mind that at all, just wanted to point that out since i did notice something when i first put them on. i just can't deal with lack of low end i can't. not even if i tried it doesn't feel right ahah

yeah there still good cans though so you'll be fine. just check your low end stuff on something else. and the comfort issue with me got worse overtime because as the foam got softer the hard speaker part pressed against my ears, after an hour it was a bit painful. but some say they comfortable for hours on end so maybe its just me.

just returned them and got some audio tehcnicas. there OK my shit dj headphones i was using before for production are better but whatever. i wanted to get the akg k240s but the guy/manager was like "oh i own like 5 of all these headphones right here my favorites are the akg's (which i already had in mind and was 100 percent i was going to pick it) and the audio technicas but get the audio technicas because the akg's are open air and you can hear things outside so there terrible for vocals. here" im like damnit look at me do i look like a singer to you? ahahahah so i got those and am still disappointed. shit never goes my way fuck

get the AKG 271 mkii's. there the akg 240's but closed back. i personally got a pair of Ultrasone Pro 900's for my bday and let me tell you they're no joke. but they'll run you a pretty penny for damn sure.

Return them man. If you don't like em get something better. Don't let some dude sell you shit you don't want. Open backs are more accurate, usually bit less bass. Depends on the cans. If you have to return them 20 times until you get something you like, do it. It'll be worth it when you have comfortable headphones you know you can trust.

idk about you but id rather have some headphones that i like than care about what some guy at a local shop thinks of me. your not breaking any rules, thats what returning is for. many online music shops actually have a longer return period for just this reason. incase you realize its not something you want so you can invest in something you do. trust me, returning 2 pairs of headphones isn't going to hit the shop too hard lol. at most it will be slightly embarrassing, worth it imo.

its all good dude im just going to use my sony mdr v700s just some dj headphones. and for a pair of headphones i look for good bass response. i just want everything to be there all frequencies that are audible to the human ear not sounding too lowpassed or too hipassed if you know what i mean.

yeah i feel you. still no sense in wasting money on cans you dont like. grow a set and return em. or take the hit. your choice. anyways heres some good cans i can think of off the top of my head. in no specific order

shure srh940's - pretty solid if you can afford. you'll get a pretty flat response with these.

denon d2000's - which i really like. they have a slight bass boost and slightly recessed mids but still give a relatively flat response. i know a lot of guys on gearslutz that swear by them. def solid cans. they have a smooth sound. good for casual listening but still good for producing as well.

AKG K271 mkII's (closed) or the k240's (semi open) - solid headphone, may lack a tiny bit of bass but its def still present. nice crystal clear mids that akg's are known for (more present in the semi open which also sound a tad bit more airy on the top end but lacking a bit more on the bottom than the 271's.

beyerdynamic dt880 - really comfortable, slightly bass heavy but still good for producing. some say the highs are a bit harsh but i wouldn't worry too much i know plenty that love theirs. huge favorite by many.

Ultrasone Pro 900's - if you want pure sex lol but theyll run you $330 on ebay. they're the closest sounding headphones to my monitors iv ever heard. the sound stage is huge...sometimes i forget im wearing them and think im listening to my monitors for a second. which brings me to my next point def comfy. they're also the type of cans where you can tell a 320mbps song vs a 256...so you can tell when a song is produced badly. cant say enough about em...
