I suggest we at least know how much we can get out of it, and not establish a whole expensive field around a concept that is on an idea level.m8son wrote:what do you suggest we do then?
fuck nature every efficient form of energy shits on nature, if we cared so much about nature we would end the human species.
But you can't make that sort of argument, it's not up to me to think of alternatives just because I see a problem with how it's done.

i don't see it at all as a long term solution just use it long enough to get nuclear power up and running more efficiently
Im not trying to argue just interested in your point of view

Re: Reasons why a UKIP vote is a good vote
Potential risks as I understand it are contamination of groundwater, air pollution, waste disposal and gas/chemical leakage.
These are all potential risks. The idea of an "objective, undeniable, proven reasons why fracking is bad" simply doesn't exist right now as not enough is known about fracking, specifically with regards to it's medium and long term effects.
IMO, however, it'd be better to err on the side of caution because if it turns out that fracking is a bad thing, we may well have reached a situation where the damage it could cause has become irreversable.
Not saying we should abandon the notion altogether...just take it a bit slower and do our homework.

i am talking about UK and as far as i am aware we only want to frack in our country
ahh ok that is way more viable than some european or russian government fracking in a thirdworld country without the same restrictions on what methods can be used etc. Thats' where the 'silly' imperialism bit should go btw

Re: Reasons why a UKIP vote is a good vote
hydropower is fucking bullshit
dams fuck up fish so hard & the shit they put in to help them doesn't work at all
there is a dam in PA on the susquehanna that actually picks up shad in a big cage & lifts them over the dam to the other side, literally called a fish elevator
but then the next dam down the river has a "fish ladder" that fish are supposed to fucking climb up (which works for salmon in the northwest) but shad cant do that shit so they all die there
then the state wastes a ton of money stocking shad, when they could just fix these dumb ass dams

as far as i understand this is blown way out of proportionwub wrote:Potential risks as I understand it are contamination of groundwater
iirc
fracking is done nearly a mile under water aquifers
also think of why an aquifer exists... its impenetrable to water (why water stays in it)... so why would water contaminated w/ fracking liquid be able to somehow get into this impenetrable rock thats a mile above it
Re: Reasons why a UKIP vote is a good vote
Because it does.
Re: Reasons why a UKIP vote is a good vote
mmm nah
also under the midwest is a massive aquifer that has been being drained for years and years and is not replenishing itself as it used to b/c of overuse
why isnt that all over the news because its been happening for years?
b/c ppl only jump on fracking b/c they want to push their enviro agenda they dont actually give 2 shits about water or anyone but themselves

Re: Reasons why a UKIP vote is a good vote
no shit we know whats in fracking fluid
it runs through cement walls to a mile underground where it stays forever...
also theyre developing ways to filter benzene out of fracking water so theres that

i always find it funny how the people who actually know two shits about science are usually in support of fracking and nuclear energy, but clueless laymen think they can read an article by a hippy and suddenly know better
