Producing older influenced Dubstep

Darqwan is a badman, we all know this. The 1st Dubstep tune i heard was Darqwan-Wear the Crown.

Tune!! I'm still drawing off of these types sounds and much of my stuff definitely has a lot of jungle influence.

btw mate. I just had a listen to your track in ur sig. I cannot hear any bass in it at all apart from a little wobble now n then! I am admitted on shit headphones at work but I would suggest bringing it either up a few notes or adding some harmonics so you can hear it. I am sure it bangs on a big rig but unless people have a big sub the tune might sound empty without it.

I would aim for a wobble like this for your track if I were you;) I can hear this very well on these £5 headphones.

this part of the genre is almost the only kind of dubstep i still dig.

Hmm, there seems quite a few people trying to make deeper sounds these days.. I think I might start some tutorials up or write something to helps those trying to get away from the robot wobbles!

You know just like a master track list would be the shit. I'm into this sound, but still find tracks that I didn't know about. Would love a dubstep library.



Of course it could be linked out to youtube tracks, and really it likely would be infringing, but a musical library would be extremely beneficial to a student of this sound, such as myself.

try not letting the synths fill the entire frequency spectrum

filter them if they repeat often to leave space

or try using them sparingly like at the end of a bar

Who cares if you can't hear it on 5 pound headphones?

Sometimes if you want to talk to god, you've got to go to the temple.

It only matters if your tune is being driven by it. I dont hear any bass so it must be really low. That would work if there was something like a synth playing a melody imo. I think it sounds too empty to be that low.

Low Octave A Minor pure sine sub... think its in the c4 range on the 3xOsc... normal sub, actually levelled to loud in the version on the soundcloud, your headphones are just the balls man ...

But, duly noted, that tune supposed to be as empty as a cave, but, ill add something more then some strings for my headphone listeners next time I go solid sub... Sorry man... but not the market Im used to writing for, headphones.

This would be a great idea it would certainly benefit me and im sure it would benefit many other people aswell. Most tutorials i come across are based on wobbles etc so it would also be a nice change.

Its not about the market tho really. A good tune can have space but I think it is a good idea to be able to hear the bass. If you check Loefahs tracks for example he has big bass lines but I can still hear them on these shity headphones;)

I cannot think of any decent tracks that has bass that I cannot hear on these headphones.
