But usually they are not frustrated for the right reasons.

The working class (citizens or immigrants of all nationalities) doesn't mean SHIT to the powers that be. None of us do. The sooner we figure that out and stop sniping at each other, the better.

Think about how you think of borders. What do they mean? Who controls them? Ever thought about the fact that capital can cross borders, but labor cannot? Who does THAT system work out best for?

The easiest way to keep people from tugging at their master's leash, is to get them growling at people just like them, struggling to live and feed themselves and their families.

It's just easy to get mad at the immigrants themselves, because they are usually the most powerless in any country, and tapping into latent racism has always been an effective tool for keeping the powerless at each other's throats. It's far more difficult to really dig deeper, because the real offenders are the big multinationals and the govts who make deals with them. They're the ones with the political power, so they sit in their ivory towers and watch us all eat each other alive.

Dont think alot of people are aiming their anger at the immigrants theirselves (not denying that some are), thats why theres these strikes, but unless the government start to cull the rate of immigration (which hopefully should start naturally with how the economy is going) and things like that, expect the frustration with immigrants themselves to grow, possibly turning into violence.

And before people get at me, I'm of Irish descent, my dad and my granddad have both been attacked for being irish back when there was alot of anger towards them.

Yeah. Open all borders all over the world. People should be able to work where ever the hell they want. The more people i meet from other country's , the richer i become.

How is it a problem?
Over crowding? The entire population of the world could live in the state of Texas.

the only way to halt the vast majority of immigration (Eastern European) would be to quite the E.U - fantastic idea in a time of economic crisis

That doesn't mean a whole lot. You might be able to squeeze all the people in there but where would you put tens of millions of bodies you'd end up with after a few days of no water?

i do sympathise with projekt's view to an extent

i think that migration overall is hugely positive but it should be controlled so it doesn't have a detrimental effect on the local working class, which is sometimes can do

the answer to this is not to close the borders, but to unionise immigrants, make sure they're not exploited and make sure they're paid at least the minimum wage

immigration is a dream for the corporate lobby because they get a flow of labour often willing to work for less, and the working class gets fractured along national/racial lines instead of being a united block to stand against the ruling class

the fact is due to decades of underinvestment in training, this country would collapse if we repatriated all immigrants, there's a huge skills gap which they're filling and they also benefit us massively, both socially and economically

this talk of 'no borders' and freedom of movement is something i'd fucking love to happen, but imo there's no chance of it working within the current system, it'd be complete chaos

fingers crossed that in the future a new system emerges which makes it possible

my 2p anyway :D:

And what I'm saying is that no they couldn't. For refenece this is what most of west Texas looks like

You know why there are not people there? Cause there's fuck all water. If you magically transported 6 billion people to Texas they might be able to stand there but within days the vast vast majority would be dead.

first off, i must point out that picture is an example of "anecdotal" evidence, rather than an across the board example of "how all immigrant workers think". nice try, tho.

secondly, i am no fan of scabs crossing picket lines, but i think it bears addressing that zenophobia and racism has always been a divider in the union movement. throughout history companies would bring in immigrants to break picket lines and the unions would reject those immigrants who wanted to take part.

what needs to happen is overcoming the zenophobia and bringing immigrants INTO the union movement instead of rejecting them (not saying the union striking in the story there doesn't, but it's historically accurate to say it has been the case far too many times).

again, you are missing the larger point. the battle is between the ruling class and the working class. when the working class lets itself be divided by race/ethnicity/nationality, it has no power. don't let yourself be a pawn.

In theory entire population of the world could live in a state the same size as texas.

back to the OP, I'm quite ready, I'll just grab my sneakers.
This biometrical passports shit and the recording of personal communication data is more than enough for me.
Even if we don't manage to make them ban these laws, at least the next time they get a great idea like that they will know we will not be quiet and they'd have to deal with us. If we keep quiet, they have no reason not to go forward on this trend.
Although it already is very bad. We really have no more privacy!!
Who the fuck are they to take my fingerprints?????? how dare they decide that for me?? FUCK!!
I'm kinda lucky my passport is valid until 2016.

But I am afraid i'll go to a rally and meet projekts with his fucking ignorant stupid racist banner or smthg.

I apologize for the judgmental generalization of bank clerks.
