They were one of the first to play the style. People started associating grindcore with Napalm Death clones when they released "Scum" but the style was around for years before that. Not every Lärm song grinds but plenty do and they did when ND was still playing peace punk. There are still bands that play the non-metallic style of proto-grind played by Lärm who want to know nothing about metal. Cyanamid comes to mind as well. Well, on two of their six songs.

Best sludge metal band I've ever heard. 'Grief' made me want to buy an Orange amp and start a sludge band. I mean, I never did, but I wanted to. =|

I once owned an Orange Amp. It was the TITS!!! I really wish that I hadn't had to get rid of it all those years ago :(

I just recently got into a J-Rock band called Melt-Banana.

Not exactly "-core", but fucking brutal nonetheless.

Metal was my first underground music. Black and Death mainly.
Stuff like Burzum, Immortal, Emperor are great.

But I really dig Behemoth, they are probably one of my favourite bands and live acts I've seen. Their new album will be awesome. And I can play quite a few songs on guitar.

Ok, valid points, but I just find Larm's sound pretty weak where as say ND came out dirty and scummy straight out. The first Larm stuff is pretty crappy sounding, I just find it hard to accept them as a pioneer of such a different-sounding thing now. They're possibly more influential to power violence if you're gonna be seminal about things.

"I like my metal without the core. "
This ^^^

I've always listened to Metal. WAY before I started producing Dubstep.
Mostly listened to Melodic Death Metal and Black Metal.

Deadguy are sick!

Been mostly listening to a bunch of noisy stuff this week, rinsing the Drowningman in particular!

dissection is amazing, cryptopsy is great classic death metal, sleep + high on fire+ boris... pearls and brass (strongly suggested) botch (someone mentioned them washington reppin it!!) i dunno what else to point out i havnt been rocking metal for a bit, get into fast hardcore some its really good (most hardcore music is boring over played riff swill from the states, some older 80s early 90s hardcore is awesome and usually pretty damn angry)

On August 16, 2006, frontman of dissection Jon Nödtveidt committed suicide. Nödtveidt's death was confirmed by the Swedish distributor Sound Pollution, whose staff has worked with Dissection throughout the band's career. Media reports had the man's body next to a copy of The Satanic Bible.

he commited suicide right after they released a new album, i forget the exact quote but it was something about how he did what he needed to do on earth and now that the album was out he could leave.. pretty intense, listen.
