god no need to be so pedantic, you know what i mean.
I DISAGREE: MY SUBJECTIVE AND EQUALLY VALID - THOUGH NO MORE VALID - OPINION DIFFERS FROM YOURS!!!
happy now?
all i'll say on the matter is i don't see how anyone who's heard, say, crash bandicoot, can think grime isn't innovativing anymore; if you haven't checked out wiley's new beats and bars, then for chrissakes do. meanwhile, alongside the good stuff, i have heard more dull, derivative, and uninspiring dubstep lately than i care to mention. in my subjective opinion. etc etc etc.

lol i do actually feel really guilty turning this happy-go-lucky thread into the beast it is. but then if it stayed all lovey dovey it wouldn't be representative innit. or interesting!

40's the new 20 though isn't it. Fuck it Peelie was playing grime at 60 so there's hope for all of us.
Mind you, I would say this I'm only 9 days and 4 years off that myself though

Hmm....

Agreed. I'm getting on a bit too... I've spent years listening to grime, but hardly any dubstep until last year... but
there's just not enough innovation in grime these days, whereas I think that dubstep is constantly evolving, and doesn't suffer from the same old rehashed lyrics about straps/shanks/carjackings/gash either lol.
WRONG!!!
but a nice friendly thread nonetheless

I'm not going to get into any arguments about this, but I've been listening to grime since the early days (having come from a UKG/jungle background), and over the past 9-12 months or so, I've seen little progression in grime. Whereas dubstep sets from a year ago sound so different to those I'm hearing now. There's new sounds all the time, and that's not really happening in grime. don't get it twisted tho, I still listen to a lot of grime, and buy a reasonable amount, but nowhere near as last year. But there's been little progress, especially lyrically.
in my opinion
To quote your later post, Wiley's big on the production side, but he still insists on putting out 12"s with one good side and a waste tune on the flip, when we all know he's probably got bare big tunes he's not releasing. I'm not paying £7 for one tune! And as for his lyrics, well he's still spitting bars I heard at Sidewinder in early 2002!

I wouldn't dare admit my age on here. I might tell someone at the next DMZ though. You won't believe me, because no-one ever does. lol
