Recently I thought to myself, "I like dubstep, I should check out dub." Things I've found so far that I like:

Almost everything by King Tubby
Dr Alimantado's album Best Dressed Chicken in Town
Some things by Lee Perry

Anyone have recommendations? I'm especially interested in classics / albums and songs with historical significance and the darker the better.

cant go wrong with tubby 555 dub street is a classic tubby tune, keith hudson is also really good. I got into dub long before i ever listened to dubstep.

King Tubby's protege Scientist released some of the best Dub albums around. Start off with this.......

Then any of Scientist's other gems.

This is essential for fresh futuristic Dub....

Select Cuts From Blood And Fire Chapter 1-3 have some awesome remixes of classic Dub Reggae stuff......Chapter 1 is easily the best but the other 2 kick ass too!

Damn right man, same here, gotta love dub if you love dubstep.

Some dubwise engineers with heavy riddims apart from the obvious King Tubby, Scientist and Lee Perry are Prince Jammy, Prince Far I and Augustus Pablo. Maxie and Barnabas are pretty skilled aswell.

what the congos did with lee scratch was BIIG and considered one of the best reggae albums ever made, culture and the gladiators are good as well. check it

I like the new dub more, so I recommend you some Zion Train, Bush Chemists, Iration Steppas, Dubmatix, Vibronics..

don't forget about Jah Shaka, Yabby You and Augustus Pablo
